@BT3100 & Colfax,
I appreciate you explaining to me without sounding like an ******* lol.
But I will keep all of this in mind. I just freaked out because I originally did just 1 quart and checked the dip stick and it was still dry. Like I said in the original post, I'm still about 2k miles from needing an oil change so when that light came on I wasn't sure.

So in the future when the light comes on before my next complete oil change is required I just need to put a quart of oil until it comes on again? No matter if the stick is dry or not.

I usually add 3 quarts when my low oil light comes on which gets me to the full mark on the dipstick. It's rare, because I typically add a quart every gas fillup. I keep a box of quarts in the trunk but sometimes I run out. I also drive the car very hard daily in sport and manual mode and it performs great.
The dipstick looks dry if you are 3 qts or more low, so maybe that's why you added 9 quarts. Can you show us what your dipstick looks like now? I have to think you're way overfilled which is bad.

Guys how difficult is it to check your oil when the engine is cold? I check every week or so, I drive it hard I am at 2000+ miles since last oil change and I added 1/2 a quart or so I check every week or other week, it it’s between the 2 dots I add 1/4 a bottle or so and check. I like it to be close to the top mark.

We all have come to the conclusion that the 4.6L in out LS sedans burn oil. How much? Depends on our driving styles. From what I understand some may put 1-1.5 quarts (which is normal) and some may put 3 quarts (that’s too many...check it out or check it often..)
Not to deviate from the main topic but it’s important. now I ask, what oil brand and oil “model” do you guys use?
1- I myself use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20 10 quarts ( 2nd Best oil right after Amsoil) Also this oil is derived from natural gas and not crude oil like others
2- high quality Fram Ultra 20k mile oil filter
3- change my oil every 3k-4K miles
4- I redline it and around 3,500miles I topped off 1 quart..
Maybe a cheaper/low quality oil burns out faster..?

I've had the car 3 years and put 70k miles on it. I drive spirited EVERYTIME I'm in the car. My commute is all highway and then 2-4 miles on the streets to get to work and home. I used to get the low oil light around 2500-3k miles into the oil change like clockwork. It kind of had me worried at first since I never had this happen on my 400 even with a leaking crankshaft seal. I would have to add btw 1-2 quarts to get me to the next oil change. My wife used to get it on the GS too until I removed the intake and poured small amounts of seafoam into each cylinder. I let it overnight and made sure most of it leaked down into the oil pan. I cleaned the rest out and made sure to clean the throttle body up while it was off the car. I also changed the plugs at the time. This was almost 2 years ago and the oil light has not come back on.
Since the LS intake is a bit more involved to remove I bought the seafoam spray and followed the instructions to spray it through the intake and then turn the car off and let it sit for a while. This helped immensely and I've only seen the low oil light once in the last 18 months. This is not a fix all procedure but it has helped clean up the old oil and carbon from around the piston rings. These cars DO burn oil according to how you drive the car though.

About a year ago I started adding about a quart every 2,000 to 2,500 miles.

How hard you drive that sequoia or how hard does she drive it? Everyone here has pleaded guilty to pushing their 4.6L crispy smooth motor to its limits

I believe lots of owners have leaking fuel pump and spark plug tube seals and don't realize it. No one should be surprised if the car burns some oil when the manual specifically states that the car can burn oil under certain conditions. It's a by product of the engine design whether we like it or not so just monitor your oil and add as needed. It should also give the extended OCI ppl some pause when trying to push the oil to it's limits. If the oil loss becomes too much you need to start looking into options such as the walnut blasting or soaking the cylinders with seafoam or compatible product. This is Just my .02c.
