Congrats!
I noticed a level of professionalism at Mercedes, BMW and Audi dealers that I hadn’t known at Lexus too. That’s not universal, but I definitely noticed it. Sales and service departments. Likely has to do with higher average transaction prices with the Germans and higher service prices and a better living to be made than at Lexus.

I've often thought of replacing my car with an S8, but I read so many horror stories about the turbo oil feed screens and check valve causing turbo failures that I gave up. Yes, the performance and technology are better than the LS460 or even LS500, but I have grown to enjoy the rock-solid reliability of the LS460 - I feel a sense of great calm when contemplating taking it on an extended trip.

Now, if we're talking about a 10+ year old one, then maybe that's a different story, but a 2015-2020? No problem.

One of my cycling buddies has an A4 wagon. I'm not sure how old it is, but he's had it since I first met him ten years ago. He said that when he takes it in for service, they really don't want to work on it any more, and keep suggesting that he upgrade to a new car
He's currently researching local independent mechanics to take care of it from now on.

There’s a reason they don’t want to work on it anymore. It might not be as lucrative as their other business. A good mechanic is always backed up with work and wants the most profitable work.

Try taking a Harley Davidson older than 5 years or so into a H-D service department. A lot of them won't touch it. I'm glad my dad taught me how to turn my own wrenches. And also when to know you're over your head and let someone who knows what to do handle it.

Great thread with some interesting thoughts to consider when buying your next vehicle. I bought my first LS in 1996 it was a 92. Since then I've put over 1 million miles on Lexus cars and trucks. Mainly the LS. Had 400s 430s and now a 460L. The overall cost of ownership is dead low compared to any other car or truck I've owned. During the years I've had many company cars and the wife has had VWs, GMC suvs and now drives a Sequoia. Yes it's dated but has saved her life in a nasty collision, she's put 280k of trouble free mileage on it. I've been able to make every repair on that truck since new. Starter and alternator has been all it's needed oh and one transmission solenoid.
I recently picked up a 04 GX740 and added a Tesla Android system to update it a bit. But I love it.
Lexus vehicles aren't for everyone, if ya want a newly loaded feature rich product they aren't it. I had my LS at the dealer last week for the interior dash recall and they gave me an ES loaner. I was expecting so much more in the way of features like 360 cameras.. nope. But man are these cars bulletproof and safe. I love em and will continue to drive em into the ground.
