Default 2016 LS 460 gas mileage on the highway

I bought my first LS460 and my first Lexus yesterday. CPO

Out of state dealer and my drive back was 354 miles. I initially looked at the mileage average on the screen before starting back and it said 16.9 MPG and range of 297 miles and that was a little unsettling as I have read somewhere on this forum that some people are getting 25MPG or better.

I made it home without the need to refill. I filled up the tank next to my house and 16.7 gallons were needed to fill the tank. That average is about 21.9 MPG.

This morning I had expected the average MPG to reflect the mileage average of yesterdays trip but the average shown is 17MPG and it showed me 330 miles before empty.

Is the 22MPG around where most people are on the highway? it seemed a little low to me looking at the numbers some people listed in a discussion 2 years ago

Those estimates are from whoever was previously driving the car and they were obviously driving around town a lot.Turn off your car and wait 6-8 minutes then Unhook the negative battery cable for about 10 minutes. This will reset the computer and it will learn your driving style going forward.

You know even highway driving can be a little deceptive. I live in the northeast and our highways have a lot of hills. Going up a hill uses a lot more gas than the gain you get from going down the hill. I've done some driving in some southern and western highways where the roads are as level as water. I see a marked difference in the mileage I get there as opposed to the mileage I get in the northeast.

For brief level straights here I can get in the upper 20's, but if I'm going up and down hills I'm around 20-22 mpg.

I live in Massachusetts and the winter gas blend reduces mileage by quite a bit. Right now with almost no highway driving. I am getting about 14.

In the summer on the highway, I can get about 24/25. Backroads, the mileage really stinks.

EPA Fuel Economy for a 2016 LS 460 is 16 MPG city, 24 MPG highway, and 19 MPG combined city/highway
A driver's gas mileage may be higher or lower than another driver's gas mileage. Driving habits and driving conditions including traffic movement and terrain are a factor. AC use effects mileage. There are claims of unusually high, physics defying, mpg on various threads here which perhaps should be taken with more than a grain of salt....
21.9 MPG may be a pretty decent number.

Did you try simply pressing reset and holding on the wheel when displaying average? But yeah since you just got the car turn off wait 15 mins for settings yo save the unhook negative for a good 15 mins or so then reconnect that will clear the ecu and relearn to your habits etc

Left Tallahassee FL with full tank of 93 octane, drove to Mooreville NC without refueling, over 500 miles, all interstate, 70 Mph cruise control on ECO mode, 1 stop in Charlotte. I was on fumes, but I made it. 2016 LS460 base. City 16-18 Mpg.

Similar to you I bought my LS 460 F sport in another state I reset the mileage computer before I left the dealership I ran between 70 and 85 miles an hour and got 24.5 miles per gallon on about 600 miles of interstate driving. I will say it was in November so I did not have the air conditioner on.

My normal around town and short freeway trip average around 22 mpg. Drove around so cal then to Vegas then around town and the average mpg showed nearly 27.

My 08 swb rwd base car matches other similar cars mpg.

straight highway at 80 will easily get 30mpg.

a keeper. A driver. Started at 54k miles. Now at 104k miles. Needs to go to 300k plus.

quiet. Fast. Comfortable. Reliable. Big interior. A pleasure to drive

Thumbs up

Own a 2007 LS 460 L GCC specs that's done just over 137k miles.
An average speed of around 70-75 mph on highways with slight ups and downs gives a mileage of about 28-29 mpg.

My 2010 LWB AWD gets about 23-24 highway around 70-75. My coil packs are original with 200k and spark plugs have 80, both will be changed out in the next week.
