'10 AWD cooling system maintenance
I am preparing for cooling system maintenance for my LS. The car now has $159k+ miles and still on the original water pump. Things I got already:
Thermostat: 16031-0S010 (Ebay, US seller)
Water pump: 16100-39506 (Ebay, US seller)
Radiator hose #1: 16571-38060 (dealer)
Radiator hose #2: 16572-38110 (dealer)
Radiator hose clamps (4 required): 90466-A0024 (dealer)
Radiator: 16400-38202 (dealer)
Hoses and clamps are cheaper from a local dealer than any online seller I can find and trust
I have replaced the water pump and the thermostat. And of course the radiator nipple failed when I tried removing the overflow hose.

Things I need but do not know which:
Radiator: Denso 221-3174 (RWD) (Amazon)
Radiator: Denso 221-9223 (AWD) (Amazon)
Radiator: 16400-38202 (dealer)
Visually both Denso radiators look identical to me but have different parts numbers. Has anybody tried either of Denso radiators on AWD? Is OEM worth double in price? The currently installed one lasted 10 years and going.
I am aware that Denso is an OEM supplier for Toyota/Lexus but I read somewhere that Toyota/Lexus perform QC on incoming parts and rejects end up sold under Denso and Aisin names after if any refurbishing.

I know what you are saying but does it not matter though? I would rather pay extra now than have it fail in middle of nowhere. Denso is a good brand however.

Call me crazy, but I’d just do a drain and fill on the coolant.
Is there something wrong with your radiator making it need replacement? Leaking? Severely corroded? Clogged? If not I wouldn’t change it...radiators can last 300,000 miles sometimes...other times I’ve seen them fail at 50,000 miles.
But if you insist on changing it, I wouldn’t worry about brands one bit. For one thing, these aftermarket brands are so cyclical I wouldn’t trust any of them anymore. I’ve seen brands that I always thought were high quality, fail in weeks. And I’ve seen no name brands go a long time...there’s no rhyme or reason to it. And if you’re going OE, you’re paying twice as much, maybe more.

I don’t even touch my system except to top it off twice a year.

Do you have AWD? What mileage does it have?
I consider water pump and thermostat replacement as maintenance. It is my daily driver, I will have less things to worry about.
After re-sealing the valley plate, I didn't have to add any coolant at all.

that’s true especially if you are doing it yourself or don’t have to pay much extra to get it done/ you remind me that I’d probably be best changing all that

I am, I do not trust any dealership. But I understand that some people have to pay somebody else to get their cars fixed.

I got a new radiator from a local Lexus dealer for $290 to replace the old broken one. I installed the new radiator today, it took me forever to install a low left bolt holding the radiator and AC cooler.

I just talked to a local Lexus dealer. The radiator, I got has updated design of the nipple making it stronger and larger diameter due to thicker walls. There is a radiator-to-overflow tank hose replacement required with part number 16567-38011.

Hi, Anfanger. A few months ago, I ordered a replacement radiator overflow hose from a local Lexus dealer for my 2008 LS460 RWD because my original hose has small white spots on it, and I am afraid that the hose is fatigued and may break one of these days. I entered my VIN number on the dealer's parts website, and the part number for the overflow hose was 16567-38011, the same as in your post above. I haven't installed the new overflow hose yet. My question to you is if I bought the wrong overflow hose as the overflow nipple on my radiator is the original size, not a larger radiator as your new radiator. The Lexus dealer's website also said that this overflow hose fits all LS460 from 2007 to 2017 Base and L models, and F Sport models.

If you got the part number using your VIN and the radiator was never replaced or replaced with the same part number. You should be OK. Can you take a picture of the house you want to replace? Especially the areas where the hose meets the radiator and the overflow tank.
