2013 LS 460 MAF and Air intake cleaning
Does anyone know if there is any maintenance required on the air intake side of things? More specifically the MAF sensors or butterfly at the throat of the plenum? If so can someone share instructions or link for this kind of service.
Thanks

You will need periodically to clean the throttle body as it gets dirty. It is a good idea periodically vacuum air filter boxes.

Thanks for your response.
I have already cleaned out the airboxes when I changed the plugs. I superficially cleaned the butterfly with some carb cleaner on a rag but will revisit soon. Any tips on efficiently cleaning the throttle body?

If you cleaned the butterfly and the passage around it, you should be good.

Just don’t manually move the throttle plate open on drive by wire throttles. That can mess up its position calibration and require a relevant procedure. Instead have someone help you. Turn to on position but do not start engine. Have them depress the gas pedal all the way down to open the butterfly plate.
THEY MUST NOT LET GO OF THE GAS PEDAL WHILE YOU ARE REACHING THROUGH OPENING. The electric motor has considerable torque and could injure a finger. Alternatively, use a pedal depressor to hold down the pedal.

Whichever method used, avoid any direct contact with the MAF sensor wire, as this could cause issues and/or damage. Also, Q-tips are for ears mostly and not MAF sensors.
