I'm looking at a low mileage LS 460 F Sport that had its front brakes replaced at less than 20,000 miles. Do they go through brakes that fast or should that be considered an indication of hard use?

It could have been replaced due to a complaint about squeaking or shimmying.

No, the dealer had previously warned the owner about brake wear and an upcoming need for service. Subsequently, the owner brought it in complaining about "grinding" and front pads were replaced. It's unclear whether anything was done to the rotors.

I have a 2014 F Sport. Brakes squeal like a greased pig. Took it in to the dealership and they said not covered under the old recall anymore. If I keep the car I'll probably buy the ceramics everyone here talks about and get them done at a local independent shop.

Having seen posts about "excessive" brake dust on wheels, I thought perhaps that F Sport brakes wear faster than normal, but nobody has so far suggested that here.

Original f sport brakes usually last 10-15k if driven hard. If you are going to be replacing them on the new car. I recommend powerstop z26 brake pads (low dust and high thresholds) and high quality rotors. Ive driven hard on my 14 f sport with the powerstop brakes and the dealer recently said they have 7/10 life left after 18k miles of abusive braking. btw also use top tier brake fluid, it helps keep the system fresh.

The factory-installed Brembo/Pagid pads are garbage. They dust like crazy, squeal and groan, and have a short life (related to the dusting, because that dust comes from the pad wearing itself into...well, dust.) They are very easy on the rotors because they are so soft. No worries with the pads having been replaced before 20k. The Power Stop pads are an excellent replacement. I also flipped my rotors R vs. L so the vanes curve the right way.

I remember that the oem rotors come with the wrong orientation? Is it corrected ? Or I just go by the part numbers?
