2009 ls460l awd, 160k.
heard a light ticking sound coming from right side of engine. Sounded like an exhaust leak. A few days later as I was driving car loss power, check engine light came on flashing, and traction control light came on. With misfires. Car was in limp mode. No rattling sound from engine, just a steady ticking. Car is now at dealership, awaiting it's diagnosis. I've heard these engines have a valve spring recall. I'm sure I'm out off the recall timeline. So has anybody had this issue? If so what was the cost associated with the repair? Kinda upset as I just bought this car last year. But it is what it is.

I don’t think the 2009 models got affected by the valve spring issue? Just the 2007 models?
in your cars case it seems like you have had a timing chain issue, maybe your tensioner failed.

DO you know how much labor is involved in replacing the chain and tensioner? I looked on the web and the range is from 800 all the way up to a few thousand dollars.

it’s not cheap. I think the big challenge is removing and reinstalling the timing case on the front of the motor.
