Default Radar cruise control - hard to find option?

I've been browsing ads for 2013-2017 LS's, and definitely would want radar cruise. I haven't really seen much in the ads text to indicate whether the cars have radar cruise or not. On some of them, I see the button/icon on the bottom right of the steering wheel, but most I do not. This means those without the button do not have radar cruise, right? So I assume this was an option, and not an especially popular one? Would really love any input on this.

I've been all over the place on what vehicle I want to replace my Mercedes E63S wagon with (totaled due to flooding in november). We've been down to just my wife's 100k mile 2014 GX 460 since then, and really not in a huge hurry, but would be nice to settle on something. My focus is nearly 100% on Lexus. I test drove a 2016 GS-F before I bought my wagon, and a 2020 a couple months ago. I have not yet driven an LS - or even sat in a 4th gen. My budget could go up to a 2018, which I have sat in at the dealer but not driven. As I get more serious, obviously I will. A little more background - have 2 young children (2.5 and newborn), and plan to keep whatever car 5+ years. May end up getting a newer GX 460 (also with radar cruise - that's a requirement), selling my wife's (and being a 2 GX household until then), and then getting my car.

Btw, on the GX forum side, there is a nice breakdown of packages/features/etc, and what was available with which model year. I haven't seen the same here, but if I missed it, I'd be happy for someone to point me in that direction

Just join the owners' section on the Lexus website. Thereafter, plug in the VIN of any vehicle under consideration to see how it was originally equipped as well as its Lexus dealer service history. This well tell you if a particular car has radar cruise.

Yes, you are right about the button on the lower right side of the steering wheel hub.

Thanks, yeah, I'm on the lexus driver's site, and have added cars in the past to get that info, thanks for the reminder!

I know for other models, there was a cut-over year where the radar cruise went from 30mph+ to all speed - is there a similar point on the LS?

I have 10 and 13, both have radar cruise. The 10 is down to 25mph, 13 is all speeds. I think the cut off year was 12.

Good to know, thanks! Maybe people with radar cruise just don't get rid of their cars very often

The radar cruise is pretty rare...

Yes, you are correct. No "car" button, no radar cruise. Even fewer cars have Lane Keep Assist, which is a 2nd button (LKA) next to the radar cruise button.

I have never tested the all-speed feature of the radar cruise in stop-go traffic considering the tech in the 4LS is over 12 years old! It may have been improved with the 2013 refresh, but radar cruise was first offered in the 2009 or 2010 MY. I use radar cruise in light traffic on long interstate drives and am very happy with it.

The 5LS is disappointing for its significantly smaller passenger cabin (compared to the 4LS) even though the car is as long as the LWB 4LS. I find the 5LS rear legroom and seat position to be very confining. However, since your kids are very young, rear passenger space may not be such a big concern, so you should definitely test drive it. All 2018 LS came with LSS+, which included radar cruise, LKA and advanced pre-collision. Some cars would have LSS+A that adds a couple more safety goodies. I believe all 5LS also have 360 deg camera, so you can get a lot of value and upgraded tech for your money.

All speed feature in the 13-17 LS works great. No reason to be concerned with it.

I really wanted radar cruise but when I was searching, it was very rare.
In those rare instances it had air suspension or awd, I didn't want. I just removed that as my search criteria.

I have radar cruise in 2004 and love it on long trips.

On 2007-2012, look for the badge to be a piece of plastic with the Lexus badge inside it, it will have radar cruise. If you only see the metal badge on the grill it does not have radar cruise I believe. On the interior look for a button on the mid/lower right ride of the airbag, will show a car icon with 3 bars infront of it. I think its the same on the 2013 plus but all have the clear badge, so you need to look on the steering wheel.

It is the button above the LKA button. That is for lane keep, so is the 6 led lights above the wheel which is the driver attention monitor, same package, if your looking for that too. Includes PCS too.

Yes it is my car! Its also Truffle Mica which was stopped in 2010 which makes it even rarer. It has every option but the self park, and 4 seater configuration. When looking for the car I just wanted a loaded on with the controls on the rear armrest, didn't even know they could come with LKA.
