The VVTi-E or VVT control motors should be inspected and the harness checked for continuity, look up the motor specs to test them.

I am not sure based on your discripton what exactly is having an issue since you have two types of cam control systems and you didn't specify intake or exhaust

I have a 2007 LS460 I can't part with. I am getting a P0020 Cam Shaft actuator open circuit warning. I pulled both units (left and right bank) and I switched them. I cleared the error and it returned immediately and IDENTICAL!. I switched banks so the error should have switched banks right? So I believe the issue is the left bank wiring between the solenoid and wherever the wires go to. I can't see where the wiring terminates though. I would like to disconnect and bypass the wiring to test. Any thoughts?

Did you check wiring next to the connector? That is the most probably place for wires to break.

Yes, but I don't discount the wiring along the path to the ECU or the connector at the ecu. Problem is that the wiring disappears in the loom and I do not know where the ECU is located to check the other end. If you can direct me or post a photo where the wiring terminate from the bank 2 actuator that would be helpful. TY
