Lexus Battery Gives Out
So my 84 month Lexus part number: 00544-MF240-575, 575CCA battery gave up the ghost today in my 2010 LS 460L. It would not start yesterday when the DW went to use the LS so I put the charger on it and gave it a good charge, it then fired right up. Today I was going to drive just to give it a little exercise and the same thing it would not start. I am looking at replacing it with a Duracell AGM group 34 775 CCA Battery. This is the same battery I have in my 2006 Lexus SC 430. It's the Duracell Ultra Platinum AGM BCI Group 34. Any thoughts on going AGM?

I would suggest having the charging system checked before buying a new battery. If you have a problem there and don't fix it, you'll soon find yourself in the same, dead battery, position with the new one. Advance Auto and others can check the charging system an d batt for you at no charge. If you have a volt meter, you can do the test yourself. If it turns out to be the batt and you are close to Costco, they have Interstates for just under $100. These are top of the line batts at a price very hard to beat. AGM batteries are a step above the standard ones but of course more expensive.

The current battery is 64 months old and has been in the LS 63 months (March of 2016 installed). When the battery is fully charged and the voltage drops down to 11 volts over night without the car being run that it is a battery issue I believe. I pulled it and it is setting on the bench fully charged. In the morning I will take a voltage read and see where we are at and go from there.

Dennis, a battery needs to be tested under load to determine its condition. The situation you describe with the battery losing voltage overnight could be from a parasitic draw, Replacing the battery could solve the problem but the analysis you're using proves nothing. Just trying to help you save a few $ and get to the root of the problem before any expenditures.

Thank you for the tip. I will take it by autozone later today and have it load tested before replacing.

Just had the 84 month replaced in my 2016 after 11 months; replace by
Lexus dealer under warranty. Failed load test; symptom - sluggish cranking if I didn't drive it for a few days.

Ok had the battery tested at 2 separate locations. Both confirmed what my initial thoughts were. The 84 month Lexus battery installed in March of 2016 had a bad cell and low cold cranking amps. So I got 63 months out of it. It had been prorated and replaced under warranty back in March of 2016. We bought the LS after it came off lease in June of 2014. The battery had been replaced while under warranty in Nov of 2012 so when I replaced it in March of 2016 it only cost me $67 so I feel I got my money out of it. I have replaced it with a Duracell SLIAGM Group 34 car battery. This is the 3rd Lexus we have installed a Duracell AGM battery in. 2 SC 430's and now 1 LS 460L

I am always amazed at what a Beast the LS is. We did a quick 1100 mile road trip a couple of weeks ago to Nebraska and the whole time while we were on the road I was thinking what a joy it is to drive this car. It's just amazing.

I think that too. It's such a beast, that I feel guilty slamming all my daily miles on it. So I bought perhaps the least expensive vehicle to purchase new in North America and I'm slamming miles on that. My LS even with worn down tires, still rides very nice. But I do feel a bit of vibration from the tires. I'll get new tires when I take a notion. Going to use it over a long weekend here real soon.
