Battery voltage

One thing I want to mention is, if you have to park your LS outside, a solar trickle charger might help keep the battery voltage up. My LS 460 gets garaged, since I'm fortunate enough to have one now, but in my 2002 V6 Camry (that was supposed to be replaced by the Lexus, but which I couldn't bear to part with) I installed a small solar charger sitting under the rear window.
I've tested it from time to time of course, and it does consistently provide a small charge to the battery during the day. But it didn't prevent the battery (from Autozone) from going dead after 3 years almost to the day. I learned something from it; if you add a solar charger, you should get the biggest one you can reasonably fit in the car! If you get a really strong one you might even need a voltage limiter hooked up so you don't get an overcharge.

Hi Dean,
Just to let you know, you are perfectly correct. I went today to Lexus and spoke with the "electrical" guy. Best solution he said, if don't drive for 2-3 weeks, disconnect the negative on the battery. When you have to drive, put it back, tight the nut and you can start the car. Don't have to wait for the calculator to finish loading up. The only think you may lose is the settings for the AC function, ON/OFF, the radio will keep the station because they are saved in the calculator with last page before disconnect.
Don't know if this is making much sense, but I have to take it for grant.
So, from now on will disconnect the battery for a none drive over 2 weeks.
Best, Nicx
