Default 08 ls460

Good day to all ,
So.. my 08 Lexus ls 460 will not start i can hear a clicking sound when i press the button but no crank.
my battery was bad so i got a new one thinking that was the problem but it wasn't.
how do i know if is my alternator or my starter

No, you don't have remove the engine, though exhaust manifold has to be removed.

Definitely sounds like the starter. Replacing it takes 6 to 8 hours labor, but it is an engine in repair.

As an aside, this is why I hate the start/stop function in new cars. If I go to a neighboring town where many stores are located, I use my starter twice, once from home and then once from the shopping district. With start/stop I would typically use the starter10 times or more. And if I go into downtown Boston ..... fuggedaboudit!

I have an 07 with 130,000 miles and just had to replace the starter

the dealer charged me $1300
