Default How to check color, condition, level of trans fluid?

Hello, friends,

I read a posting here which indicated there was no transmission dipstick. This said, how does one check the level, the color and smell of the transmission fluid?

There has to be a way, right…..

The car needs to leveled. The transmission should at certain temperature before checking the fluid level. To check the level remove the overflow plug. The fluid should come out in a very small amount if the level is set correctly.

The fluid color should be red to dark red with somewhat "fishy smell". If the fluid has burnt smell to it or the fluid color is very dark, the fluid should be replaced.

Please, use search function, there is at least one detailed thread how to replace and check the level of the fluid.

If you just want to quickly check the color/condition of the fluid, you could crawl under it and just quickly let a little bit out into a clean container by way of the drain plug on the pan, but check the actual fluid level is a whole other issue.

And like someone else said, there’s probably 50 threads on this a mile long. And I don’t personally find the procedure all that fun or easy.😀
