Hey all,
I am looking at a used set of LS460 Headlamps from a guy on offer up to resell. I have sold hundreds of headlamps, but never this one. There was an LS460 out front and it had stock headlamps. But he had these up for sale like these were replaced with others.
The headlamps were bare, no ballast, no modules. The projector swivel was VERY loose going back and forth, like if I flicked it with my finger it swivels with no force. It had no ballast but where the ballast would go, it looked like if there was some sort of motor that went into the gear maybe that holds it and drives it back and forth? Oddly enough only 1 headlight was very loose, the other was fairly solid. Of course the seller played dumb and acted surprised. After light fiddling with the other headlamp, that one all the sudden became very very loose as well. Loose only horizontally. Everything else seemed to be solid.
I've handled swivels from Infinitis and while they are semi loose, none seemed to be as floaty and loose back and forth as this. But the leg swivel did seem to have some sort of indent for a rod or something, but it would be where the ballast goes.
I'm almost certainly going to pass because of the LS460 out front had stock headlamps in them and he had a pair of stock headlamps bare for sale like they were replaced because they were broke. But I figured I'd ask since I have 0 experience with LS headlamps.
Here's a quick video I took of it
Thanks
Kevin

I'm guessing the motor is for self leveling (or self aiming) so if it's not there I can see the projector flopping around.

You know I think you're right. I just looked on ebay and brought up "LS460 headlight adaptive swiveling motor" and it looks like that would somehow fit in there to control the swing. I guess it's missing from the original and moved to the new lamp.
Looks like I'll have to pass on these lights. Shame he wanted $400 for them but they are missing all covers and modules, likely swapped over to the new OEM light that is installed in the car because something is wrong with these headlamps.
Thanks

In theory you should be good, unless there are other parts missing. I would be patient and find a complete unit that someone hasn't dicked around with.

Cool thanks. Just looking for a flip but these lamps are bare, missing all modules and covers. I probably wouldn't buy anyway and I'm willing to bet something was wrong as the car in the driveway had stock headlights.

The gears/motors in that headlight are toast. I'd avoid it unless you're game for opening up the light and finding some new swivel motors.
