Default Windshield Question

So it might be time to replace the windshield. Thing is they changed part numbers and from where I usually buy my stuff the new numbers are more expensive than the old part numbers. Is there a difference?

so some questions:

I know that basically I need one with auto rain sensing. I don’t know if I have de-icer I need to check.

1. there seems to be few main variants. Ones that say LAM, which I guess stands for laminated, green blah blah with various options and LAM blue.
2. then there’s also EHL, which I have no idea what that stands for.
3. other than the cut outs for the pre Collision camera, if I find one for a good price there’s no reason I cannot install that right ? Maybe there’s even a way to rig up the de-icer

56101-50770; 56101-50450; 56101-50451 with rain sensor
56101-50760; 56101-50540; 56101-50541 with cold area package
56101-50750; 56101-50510; 56101-50511 with rain sensor and cold area package

I believe, EHL stands for "Electronically Heated Laminated" meaning it has a deicer.

I would strongly suggest to buy by VIN so you have the right features and also make sure it's an OE shield, aftermarket is very hit and miss with seal and the rain sensor.

vin doesn’t give you exact model .. I’ll look at the LAM and EHL thing in a bit

There's no cutouts for STC/NV. STC(lka) compatible windshield have blue tinted top. VIN does give you exact part no only in you use m-cat, not t-epc.

Can't help you with this specific question, but I'm interested in the answers.

My original windshield has survived rocks with only a very small spider web, which is impressive for the roads here. However, it could not survive being hit with sand at 140kph. It now "sparkles" if the light hits it just right with all the sand pitting. Lesson learned.

I assume I can probably have someone pull a used windshield from a junkyard? A new factory one here would likely be very expensive, and an aftermarket one will probably be junk since windshields are basically a maintenance item here.

Correct re aftermarket junk. Not entirely correct re original replacement. Not super expensive, around 1k done. It's not as easy as just gluing one in. There's rivets etc. Dealer only job if you ask me.

I’ve seen factory one 300+ 5610150760

*EHL,T=5.48,GREEN,SIDE GLASS-LAMINATED&WATER REPELLED&WINDSHIELD DEICER-WITH&INTERMITTENT WIPER-AUTO(RAIN SENSOR)

Cardon: 11,552 Uah which is 300-400 usd

its shipped from some place tales 20+ days.. there’s no reason to get a non factory one unless you have a lka etc that variant is 1000 usd.. I need to plan how to wire the deicer if at all possible.

Yes, glass itself is usually 200-500 range. 760 one is from 13+ cars but 750 and 760 are compatible (but don't quote me on that - there are nuances). Also sharing a bit of a secret here. 13+ glass w/deicer have one staggering improvement over original. That's all I'll say.

Ok just checked m-cat - current correct replacement windshield for most LS4s is:

56101-50760

It it a modded windshield well worth replacing to esp in cold climate areas as it got a neat mod compared to earlier glass (part no).
(my 760 got blue top. m-cat may have an error here saying 'green top')

If you have State Farm insurance, they won't pay for OEM. I FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY
