Default My first ever Lexus after 1 month

Hello All

After 16 years behind Toyota wheel I went mad and bought 2008 model LS460 / 146.000km or 90.000 miles. Original 'native Finnish car' with full Lexus service history etc. I thought that I would just relax and enjoy this premium vehicle but no. The madness just started.

Day one was fine.

Then came the little things

Then new Osram Night Breaker Laser bi-xenons, led Nikes and led High beams. Self-build and replaced. Already some blood flowed

Then came Santa and Grom Vline2 that was not really nice to install, merry Christmas said the wife. Well in point were you start screwing your airbags the humor runs out. Rear monitor is still waiting so part to be able to display the same image as front console but it's just a piece of cake.

Well at least Mr Bichon has enjoyed V8's sophisticated growl. Next in line are interior/exterior led lights, wheels and something under the hood.

Happy New Year to You all

Congrats and welcome!

Have you done leak (coolant and oil, at least) checks? Even being serviced at Lexus, these cars tend to have leaks in certain places, at least, mine did.

Mechanic Bischon does not look to be at all helpful.

Congrats and I wish you good luck with the car!

Yes, I managed to borrow the car from a dealer and did full strip search at local Toyota repair shop owned by my friend. No leaks, control arms as new and Lexus service history showed that even all 4 air shock strut were changed 19.000miles ago .. in some reason. Car was ovned by large Toyota dealer over 10 year so it was cheep for them to change. The same Toyota garage did "official" Lexus 150.000km service plus 4 x org. discs+pads for me and I paid 960€. Thats a true deal

You know there is a fairly cheap remote start option for this car ? It's under $70 US, uses the factory remote (lock 3x) and is only 5 wires to the ECU to install...

LS remote start install DIY - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion

I did this in my 2007 and moved it to my 2014....

Nice mods so far

There is an upgraded model - DB3. However, you can't flush it anymore as you are required to be an authorized dealer to get access to a necessary firmware.

You can still find the DB2 on eBay from sellers, send them a note to program for your car, and note to them 15 min shut off (there is a setting for 5, 10 and 15 min)

They will program it for your car... Take a look...that is how most people in that thread got theirs...

You are right, you can not manually program them any more.

They are little more expensive now, I think like $85 but with some hone work getting programmed dealer... it's still a cheap item.

I have owned 7 Lexus cars and currently have three. I was planning on replacing my 06 ls430 with a 460. Then I drove two 460's and decided to buy another 430. In my mind the 460 is not nearly as nice a car as the 430. The 430 drives much nicer, is more reliable and is built better.. I sold Toyotas for 215 years and love both Toyota and Lexus. It seems to be they took a big step backwards with the 460.

Thru the years I've heard people referring to auto salesmen as vampires.....now we know it just might be true!
