(EDIT) The noise was NOT the tires but turned out to be my front lower forward control arms , the ball joint...had no idea it could cause this nose, wasnt noticeable on the 18s for some reason, sorry for puttng that bad info out there, these tires are actually whisper quiet

i have the michelin "energy" MXV4 , I know you only mentioned the MXM4 but i just wanted to let you know just n case they are similar , they sound like tractor tires ....the ride is dominated by it ....worst sounding tire ive had n my whole life

Had a very serous buyer for my car not long ago, and he said the sound on the highway is a deal breaker ....i of course told him its the tires but they arent gonna buy new tires to find out if its true

Mine are dated 2018 or 2019 , so maybe its the year, maybe they are alot different then the MXM4'S, maybe they improved since then, i dont know...but i wouldnt be a good person not to warn u about it

In October, 2021 (if memory is correct), I put on the Cross Climate 2s, and they have been totally fine on all dimensions...absolutely sure-footed terrific in the rain...not much snow yet, so no personal experience there...

Anything eco focused usually sucks, thanks for the warning though

I see Pirelli has a new all season touring tire,

P7 AS PLUS 3

Does anyone know if this is the next generation of the cinturato P7 plus 2 which is on close out at tire rack?

It is, and the II is on closeout. TireRack just reviewed the 3.

Thanks for all the great replies!

I have narrowed it down to the following 2 choices:
Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus II
Michelin Cross Climate2

In your experience:

Which of the above two is the quietest?
Which of the above two will last longer?

Thanks!

I love my Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus 2 as do several other members here as a suggested great tire.
Actually Costco doesn't play games with tire sales. The $150 per set off includes Michelin's entire line or what other brand tire offered with the same discount. The sales are rotated monthly or what ever. Costco is a premier retailer because of their customer service as well as their prices on everything that are hard to match or beat. I bought a set of Michelin's a while back and their tire facility is first class. Just my 2 cents.

The P7 will be the quietest for sure, the CC will probably last longer.

Pirelli if your on a budget and want softest ride.
Michelin if you feel you want the best made tire, and the most fuel efficient and depending on tire chosen longest lasting and best wet traction

Driving in the snow last night with my Michelin MXM4 with 17k miles, they were awful...which didnt really surprise me given how bad they were in the rain a couple weeks ago. Even with the AWD Mercedes they felt really unsettled and had almost zero grip. Going to replace them next week, which is a shame they have like 7/32nds of tread left. May be the last set of Michelins I buy, just haven't been happy with them the last 6, 7 years or so.

Michelin IMO is like Sony TVs. At one time they were the best far and away, but nowadays everybody else has caught up and they're still priced like they're the best but no longer are....thats from a guy who just bought a Sony TV...but it was on sale and the same price as the LG which is just as good.

SW17LS: give the Continentals a shot. I've got them on my LS and I can't be more happy with the performance. I've had ContiExtremeContact DWS 06+ for years with different vehicles (Honda Accord, GS430, SC400, LS460, Ford Thunderbird) and have enjoyed the performance on all of them. Lots of rain here in FL and never had any issues as they wore down.
