Thinking of Downgrading from 16 LS to 16 GS

Am I insane?
Love the quiet cabin, comfort, luxury touches, craftsmanship, V8 power, and space but miss the nimbleness and engine growl...
Thinking about GS 350 with luxury package. I know v6 will not give me the engine growl but will scratch the spirited driving itch. I live in DFW metro so there are no twisties though but flat roads. My driving is mostly in city and occasional road trips.
Used GS F or LC500 would do it but don't want to spend that kind of money now. Perhaps after 3-4 years as my 45th birthday gift
.
Appreciate your thoughts and feedback!

Family has had both 2013 GS350 Lux (totaled) and a 2013 LS460, both RWD. The GS makes you want to drive faster all the time the LS is the opposite. If you're looking for a better handling car that you don't mind being a little slower (feels faster though) the GS is great. GS has a great intake noise when you get past 3500rpm, if you delete the factor silencer its even better. As for luxury...if you get the Lux package with the upgraded seats its nearly as nice/comparable.
Go test drive one. The biggest downsides are probably the smaller back seat, slightly noisier cabin and stiffer ride (but its a sports sedan). On the plus side, it gets 25+mpg on the highway, 30mpg if you cruise at 70ish and handles amazingly for its size.

I’ve been driving the iS350 for 4+ years which has the exact same engine as the GS and although you do get a more spirited driving style you sacrifice in town with the whiny v6 engine, Waaaa…waaa….waaa as you go through the gears Coming from GS 430‘s V-8‘s it’s a significant sacrifice. Yes this car is reasonably quick, especially from a stop, and yes it’s fun when you want it to be but all other times during normal driving you will miss your smooth V-8. So it comes down to asking yourself which is more important, fun when you want it, or a comfortable smooth ride. You can’t have both unless you pay a lot more money.
I’ve tried very hard to find a replacement but Lexus makes it difficult and low maintenance longevity is my number one priority so only Lexus for me. Your model LS is a floaty cruiser, the new LS is fun to drive and has a great interior but it’s huge, antiquated tech and plenty of cause for concern with what past owners tell you about it, the new iS 500 has bolstered seats and interior designed to keep the driver firmly in place and doesn’t accommodate a larger person comfortably.. GSF has heavy bolstered seats as well; I even drove the LC but the two big heavy doors and it’s low to the ground profile don’t make it a great daily unless you’re still a player.
let me know if you sell your 16 LS as I’m shopping those. To me, using the “manual mode“ of manually shifting gears allows for some more fun driving when you want it and super comfortable the rest of the time. That said it’s still floaty… but nothing is perfect and it’s half the price of the new LS without the potential issues.

Having had both the luxury package 4GS and two LS460s, no way you will be happy with that move.

The GS has less room and noisy. When I was looking for my LS, I test drove several GS and never had any good feeling about it. I would get the GS-F jf I want a sedan again.

The GS is a great car, it’s fun and sporty and very nice driving especially in the luxury trim. When you’re used to the LS though it’s very hard to go backwards.
I just had an E Class loaner for instance, it was painful.

There is a GS350 Crafted Line available nearby, I was thinking to test drive it... I like my LS but I have now less time to work on it when it is necessary. So I am looking for a low mileage Lexus (GS, ES) as an alternative.
