Default Tighten parking brake ls460 2009

This is my first post at clublexus. It's amazing forum thank you all.

my 2009 the parking brake is not holding my car on any recline slop. It always stopping on transmission, but it works fine on any decline slope. When i apply the parking brake on reverse it hold the car fine, but not on D or N if it's on recline slope.

I did some research and found out tge parking brake can be adjustable. Can you advise me how to do it. And do i need only adjustment

Thank you for such great forum

LS460 has electronic parking brake. I do not remember seeing any adjustment nut or bolts. Have you inspected the rear parking brake shoes?

I still can't find any procedure to have the module learn a new set point, I basically don't care enough and have given up on it. It's extremely annoying though that you can't just adjust it normally, to be clear mine does "work" but I don't like how weakly it holds the car.

There's an access hole under the spare tire. It's for releasing it (I think it's a long Allen key) Maybe it will also allow tightening it.

it`s really annoying and you cannot trust the parking brake at all, I am always trying to park on decline surface, and tried several time to google the issue for specific LS460 07-17 and not get any clear way to do it

yes, it's for releasing it in case of emergency, but do you think it's also can be used for tightening, I do not want to miss with it until i got clear answer

Understandable. I don't know for a fact. Maybe a Google search will give you the answer. I'll leave that to you.

PB is adjusted by tightening PB shoes... See manual.

Well that's easier than I thought, guess that serves me right for assuming it's done electrically!

There is 'bedding in' procedure that is done somewhat electronically - after adjusting shoes as per manual (rotate tightener till tight, then back some clicks - can't remember 3 or 4 or something) at rear rotors (via a hole in rotor) you have to accelerate to about 25mph, then hold in PB set button until light stops flashing (or starts). After that pb is bedded in and lash is memorized.

Yeah that's what I was doing minus the physical adjustment, I thought it's done entirely via the bedding procedure. Thanks man

When I replaced my parking brake ecu I recall techstream had some sort of calibration it went through for the parking brake actuator. I use the term calibration loosely as it sounded like it simply tested the brake and released it. I wonder if doing this procedure would tighten up the p brake.
