Oil not registering on dipstick after recent oil change.....
#46
its not crazy at all. I went through that about 2 days after purchasing the car from the dealer. He said he just had the oil changed and all of a sudden an oil light came on. I was enraged. I called the dealer right away and he said, "just reset it." And all was good. I can't tell you how worried I was.
The interesting part is my Lexus mechanic friend did all sorts of work. New radiator, belts/tensioners, fixed an oil leak with 2 rubber round pieces (excuse me for not knowing the names of parts), transmission drain/fill, and of course oil change. Got the car back and 10 days later it's 3 quarts low. He knows the car like the back of his hand, that I know for sure. I see no leak under my car.
I'll wait and see what he finds. Since, the car is not going through oil near as fast. Weird.
I'm going to put in the Lucas Oil Stabilizer tomorrow as I'm a quart low right now.

Putting in a leak stopping product before you're diagnosed and certain it's a leak is going to confuse the diagnostic process. First, to check the oil level, the engine must be up to operating temperature. Shut it off and wait a few minutes for the hot oil to settle in the pan. Then check the dip stick.
