New Executive 460L, failure of rear struts , need advice thanks
Hey guys
i got a great deal on a fairly low mileage 07 460L fully loaded executive , this is my 4th LS460L and my 3rd Executive
I planned to do a full thread on the restoration of the car, it was cared for but also neglected in some ways such as the paint and interior, few rust spots etc....
anyways that will have to wait,,, after driivng about 2 weeks, the air ride has been flawless , control arms flawless , no issues at all.... today while driving to work on the hihway it started bouncing around like crazy, pulled over to see the two rears are sagging and scraping bottom,,,no air in them at all,,, and no matter wat i do i cant get them to air up.
I know there was no leaks because in 2 weeks the car has never sagged even when left parked for a while , no noises or bouncyness the struts themself are perfectly fine im sure of it
Any suggestions as to what might cause this? I have a spare spring/strut OEM set that i can easily swap in if this gives me a hard time,,, but hping to see if its a minor fix .
Hoping a fuse or something minor..... the only warning light its showing is the AFS which i belive is due to the cars angle..but not sure
Thanks in advance

If it's not a compressor issue. It's remotely possible the sensor arms under the car (both rear) have loose adjustments screws/bolts. Having Techstream hooked to OBD port may give more info. It is odd that both went at the same time. Looking forward to you restoring the car with posts along the way.

Thanks guys much appreciated
I can't hear the compressor running but the car has an exhaust leak so its a bit loud in the cabin
I might take it in to a shop for diagnosis, if they can't easily figure it out I might just dwap in new spring struts
If anyone has anympre advice pls chime in 👍

Only way to hear compressor is have your ear to the headlight or even better, hood up and head in. No way to hear it from cabin even with a good muffler. You know how well they are sound insulated in the cabin. Glad you're cool with concerting to regular struts and have some already. Front airs should still work fine alone.

Oh man, I’m going through this RN, so I know the feeling!
like others said, check the bolts on the rear sensors to make sure they’re screwed in tight.
I listen for the compressor on the passenger side corner under the headlight. I’m sure you know how it sounds.
I was out of town few weeks ago, and my compressor wouldn’t kick on to air up my FL corner ( had a leak). Turns out, after it warmed up a little outside, it started up right away.

If your hearing is normal you can hear the compressor running if you stand by the rf wheel, unless both height sensors are broken off and hanging loose the car probably wouldn't be able to drop that low, mine are at the lowest point on the adjustment and they are still 1" away from the fender.

It would make sense if there was a major leak the system would shut down to prevent damage to the compressor.
Techstream or a schematic of the system would help you now, power sources etc. There must be a block near the compressor where the air is diverted to the corners.

At this point, a shop with Techstream is the next logical step for OBD codes. Also to check compressor connections. A diagram will likely reveal a module/valve that controls how the air is routed to each corner. They are individually controlled. We've had members with only one corner dropped low. Edit: those were LS460. Maybe LS600H has rears joined?
