How is the reliability of the LS460 compared with the older Ls430?
A lot of people are saying that older LS are more reliable than newer LS starting with the legendary LS400 and I'm just wondering if there's any truth to this. Ive had an Ls430 for the past few years or so and for the most part it's just tires, batteries, and brake pads. Although the mark Levinson amp just went out on mine and this is going to be the biggest unexpected repair at $400 or so. Before my Ls430 I had a 98 GS300 and I rode that car 15 Years with NO major repairs needed with the door actuators and ball joints being the only "headaches."
So I would consider trading up to an LS460 but I would regret it if I was regularly having to commit to $500 DIY fixes. I think anything more than 3 $500 diy repairs over the life of the car would be too many. After 5 years with my LS430 I'm on my 1st of these repairs with the amp. Ironically if I didn't have Mark Levinson this repair would be sub $100.
If I got an LS460 would I have to fix it more often than the LS430 I already have.
I've gotten good advice on this forum over many years. Also want to say thanks.

Hi handogg, there are already a few dozen threads on this topic both here and the ls430 forum and I’d ask you search those up and read them first before posting this one. If you still don’t have your answer, pm me and I’ll re open this.
