Replaced upper arms after inspecting them. Replaced both sides. Improved a little but still dangerous.
Did you actually get the car in the air and visually confirm this? Are you certain it's the actual rack and not tie rods or hubs or even the steering shafts? It's rare the actual rack to car connections get bad enough to feel "dangerous" on any car.
Steering wandering, feels like how rack bushings would feel. Can’t locate any rack bushings anywhere. Anyone know of any solutions?
If the lower control arms have not been replaced since you've owned the car, I would recommend checking those bushings too. Is there any play in the steering? How is the overall condition of your tires/tread? Sometimes it could be one main part that is the cause, or a combination of parts' wear that is contributing to the wandering feeling.
Who's doing the diagnosing? Who's doing the work? If a shop did the mentioned work but hadn't pinpointed the exact issue, it's time to change shops. If poster is doing diagnosing and work, time to bring to a shop.

I am the one getting my hands dirty on my car lol. I changed them already after I saw the bushings were cracked when I was changing the hub bearing….haven’t checked the steering shaft as yet…I’ll check that out. Don’t have anyone to help so it kind of holds me up at times…
I have a manual SC300 that I had to change the rack bushings on and it felt exactly how this feels…just was coming to the forum to see if there was part number for the rack bushing….
