Default 2008 LS600 Air Suspension Issues

Hello all . My beat 2008 LS600 that I got at an auction has always had a slight sag on the driver's side rear. I also have excessive tire wear on the passenger side rear. In the past, I scanned codes and saw that I had an active C1761. Today I checked for leaks on the rear driver's side and did not detect any. I happened to look over at the passenger side and things look strange. I'm no air suspension expert but it looks like the surround of the strut failed and the bladder is now external to the strut on the passenger side. Please reference the attached photos (and ignore the rust. The car lived in OH and apparently someone parked it in a lake or something).

I really don't want to invest much into the car because of the multitude of little issues with it. Is the only option to replace with a new or used oem strut? I'm assuming the cost to replace one strut would be less than eliminating the air suspension if that is an option but hard to say when the rest of the struts will need to be replaced. The car has about 154k miles.

It's getting to the point where it may get listed on FB marketplace or just driven to the scrap yard ...

Yikes...no bueno.

That strut is hooped, the other can't be far behind. I hope you haven't put too much into repairing the other concerns you have previously posted.
I would dump it..those struts are $1400 cdn each up here from lexus online store. Nice to see the internals though.

Sorry to hear & see!

I just went through a PITA experience w/ OEM air struts!!

If you're going to keep the car, convert to shock/spring assembly and call it a day.

GL!

Hi Mattyman. It sounds like that 600 had as many issues as mine. That is an awesome picture of the rusted out air strut lol.

A year ago these were $575 shipped from
https://carmarka.com/

Some of the part numbers are in these pics.

I have a good used front passenger air strut. I'd give you a deal on.

My new or used rear air struts will be available in a couple months. Depends what the outcome is with my engine issues.

Care to share what other issues you've had? I'm curious.

If LS600 shares struts with LS460 AWD, get an used one. An air rear strut in a good condition will run you between $150 and $300.

Gerf... I don't remember where they were shipped from. Over the pond somewhere. I remember they sat in customs for a bit.

The prices on carmarka and megazip are often 1/3 less. My valve stem seals were $2 vs $10. I use lexuspartsnow as well. I find their site easy to navigate.

When swapping air struts to standard struts is there actually a cost savings if you order from one of the less expensive places? I'm not interested in doing the swap just curious.

LS600 uses different struts than LS460 awd.
