My daughter lives down there right smack where its going to landfall.
I sent her some money today to help her with prepping.
She is worried sick single mom with 3 kids to deal with.
Hoping all ends well for all concerned.

Sometimes the wind driven rain is the main issue. Othertimes, it's the wind arriving at high tide. This is the storm surge. Fl is pretty flat and the surge can go inland 10 miles in places. I lived through 30 years of tropical storms before relocating to So Cal. It can be nerve wracking.

I live in Tampa and my parents are in Ft. Myers. We were both in the path but now it's hitting them straight on.

Been watching the weather channel. Naples is getting flooded. Cars shown underwater. Eye about to hit. Looks pretty bad. Thoughts to all who are dealing with this storm.

The Naples coastal area has onshore winds at the same time as high tide. This has created storm surge and coastal flooding of up to 10 ft above normal high tide. Not only roads but condo and houses have ground level flooding. Lots of flood damages and insurance claims around the corner. In FL, damage caused by a named storm has a special higher deductible of 2, 5 or 10% of the home value. A real financial burden on top of the current economy.
