Default Low RPM vibration

2016 LS460 F -- found an issue:

When I put the gear in D and step on the brake, the RPM drops to around 500 which I heard was set by Lexus to save gas, but then the car vibrates, not like a strong shake but my bottom can def. feel it.

But the interesting thing is, when I turn on the AC, the RPM raises to around 6-700, and the vibration disappears.

So it only happens when D + Brake + AC OFF.

Any idea what kind problem it is? and how to fix it? Clean the carbon?

Thanks a lot.

No carbon as the engine is EFI and DI. The EFI mode washes gas over the valves to minimize carbon buildup. Unless you have close to 100k miles, the plugs and throttle body are likely fine. You can pay to have have the OBD2 scanned for codes. Are you using premium fuel from a top tier brand? Hoping some of our experts have come across this condition and will chime in.

Do a search. Well known problem and it appears common.

thanks a lot

mine is fairly new with less than 50k miles on it, and I always use the #91 gas from Chevron or Shell. I don't know how much it would cost if I send it to the Lexus dealership, or spend $200 get an OBD2 scanner myself?

need advice or if anyone has fixed something similar.

Based on the discussion a few yrs ago (I believe?) it’s a common issue.

You can turn on any of the front seat A/C, & it’ll also reduce vibration.

As a Lexus owner who wants to know what the problem is (in the future as well) you should consider a scan tool that is compatible with Toyo Lexus. The best is Techstream software with a PC. There are multiple threads here about how to do that without paying $$$$. There are several other brand tools that are self-contained recommended on Youtube videos. Do your research before buying or you'll come up short. Also, Lexus service is expensive and are likely to replace expensive parts rather than troubleshoot. Toyota is typically more affordable. Some indy shops are reasonably priced, others, not so much. A hint about doing a search on our forum: use Google, enter the subject, Lexus model and add the word Clublexus in the search field. Example, "low idle vibration LS460 clublexus". Welcome to the forum. We get new members regularly who ask complex questions as a first post. LS is very computer centric and makes many questions difficult to answer as there could be many reasons there is an issue. A smart thing to do is go to FAQ at the top of this page and educate yourself. Also when posting include model year, AWD or RWD, miles, any work recently done, more info. Even better, set up a signature to include car info similar to my posts. Why does my Lexus get poor fuel economy is an example of a poor question with no info.

Likely motor mounts, I replaced mine at 135/two weeks ago lol since I had a minor startup vibration. Stuff like that wears out and you can tell a huge difference going from old ones to new on these cars

I know the symptoms match. With his car at less than 50k miles, I never would have made the connection. But anything can go bad at any time. How do you suggest he go about confirming this?

This is the same issue for me at all most 177K. However, in winter the vibration is worse. I will get mine replaced before December.

Well normally I would agree it's too early but I also thought 130k was to early since my 430 took 200+ to tear. I would try puting the car in gear immediately when you start it and then stopping and reverse gear, if there is a thump I would suspect mounts since that was another issue that went away totally on mine.

The other thing I noticed is the shifts would feel like the engine is rocking at WOT on the 100 mph shift, that's the main one that I noticed and figured I should replace it.

That follows since the rubber is harder and heat takes longer to soften it out when cold, mike was internally torn on the drivers side.
