Transmission Issue With Several Codes (P0746, P2714, P0796, P2808)
Hi I have ‘08 LS 460 with 93k miles. A couple weeks ago, I’ve been having some issues when I’m driving that I suddenly lose all power in my car. It wouldn’t accelerate any more no matter how far I press the accelerate pedal. I have to bring the car to a complete stop and then it would accelerate again. The check engine light did not turn on when this happened so I thought it was the spark plugs since they were never changed AFAIK. I did not do an OBD2 scan at the time.
Fast forward to a couple days, I was driving at about 20-30mph when the car lurched forward and several lights came on: check engine, traction control, and yellow indicator light with a message saying “Check VSC system”. Afterwards I had a lot of trouble accelerating at all, having to bring the car to about 3k rpm to get the car home at the 20-30 mph speed.
I scanned it with a BlueDriver and 2 confirmed codes came (P0746, P2714) with 3 pending codes (P0746, P0796, P2808).
When I shift the gear into Drive, even if I press the accelerator to 3k rpm, the car barely moves. When I put it into reverse, the car also doesn’t move unless I wait several seconds and then it moves.
Does anyone else have any experience with these codes and what they did to fix it. I’ve also attached a screenshot of the codes that came up for the scan of that helps.

Both active codes (P0746, P2714) point to either low transmission fluid level or dirty transmission fluid. I'd begin with replacing (drain the fill) the transmission fluid. You'll need to do the drain-and-fill 4 - 5 times to replace most of the transmission fluid. Note, don't flush the transmission fluid with a machine, as flushing the transmission with a machine may do damage to your transmission if the transmission fluid has never been changed for all these years. Oh, one thing more, please post how you eventually resolve the issue, so that other forum members will learn. Thanks.

I have a 2010 tundra that has 129K on it. According to my transmission specialist almost same transmission as my Lexus. Had similar codes about 60 miles after two solenoids were replaced. Transmission shop is 35 miles from home and they told me it was ok to drive short distances but should bring it in when in area. So the code went away after a few days still took it in and they looked at fluid, checked connections and said all was fine. They told me that the solenoids have sensors and sometimes they will have a spec of contamination on them that will throw codes and will self clear. So that was about 400 miles ago and all seams well. So I agree to have a drain and refill / screen replacement if you have never done one. But definitely do not ignore it, because if it is an faulty solenoid it could destroy your torque converter / transmission.

No, I was about to get it done next month when my oil change was due lol. Is it about replacing shift solenoids? Also is it still okay to drive in 1st gear/sub 2k?
May need take it to the shop.

Drain and fill removes some small particles that grow over time. Those particles can get on the code sensors and/or prevent solenoids from functioning. Keeping the rpms below 2000 will be fine. Hope the shop isn't more than a few miles as you're going to be making 20 mph in 1st gear. That post is about transmission solenoids. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...oid-codes.html. Good luck.

No one can say for certain without looking at your car, but 83k miles is pretty low for transmission fluid to be causing issues. I don't think working on solenoids is a big deal, but not everyone agrees. Definitely do or get more diagnosis before throwing parts at it though. Don't be surprised by $$$ quotes; transmission work tends to be expensive 😢

Should I try clearing the codes? The weather is excessively hot in Austin area. So there is also that.
I do have an aftermarket warranty contract from Preferred Protection Plan, so hoping they may cover it. But who knows.

Hot weather won't create an issue like this. Check your policy to see if Lexus dealer is covered before you take car in. https://www.engine-codes.com/p0985_lexus.html

Lexus of Lakeway told me I need a new transmission and they're waiting for the warranty company to send an adjustor. Yikes.
