2009 LS460 transmission pan gasket & filter after 6year 50k miles
Just replaced the transmission filter and pan gasket for the second time after 6 year 50k mile interval. The filter seems to have a paper element inside. The gasket is stiff and cracked in many places (probably a third party gasket I bought from Rockauto). The inside of the pan is mostly clean with metal powders sticking onto the three magnets.
Temperature in garage is about 40F. Drained out about 5 QT of transmission fluid and replaced about the same amount. It took about 19 min of idling for the transmission fluid to reach the proper temperature, ie. , solid D display on the dash.

The filter on the left looks OEM, is the one on the right from Rockauto ?

Ok, the filter media looks just like the oem on the old one.

Looks good, nothing untoward on your magnets. You mentioned this is the 2nd time you've changed the fluid; what mileage at the first and what's your current mileage? I'm a strong believer in preventative transmission fluid changes regardless, but any change in performance after the service?

actually I just ordered another 10 bottles (quarts) of Toyota WS transmission fluid online at Toyota of north Miami at about $9.7/quart. They have promotion going on for free shipping for orders over $75. This is the first time I purchase from this particular dealership and hope it works out fine. I searched for the transmission fluid in google and a couple of Toyota dealers popped up and the North Miami is one of them with 4.6/5 reviews. Last time I ordered a case (12 Qt) of transmission fluid from a Toyota dealer’s store on eBay. Guess I could just buy the fluid from local Toyota dealerships as well.

When I bought mine earlier this fall it was $10 a litre too, I don't think that stuff moves very fast in the dealerships because my containers were pretty dusty.
About 3/4 of the maintenance supplies I have bought in the last year have been more expensive at toyota dealers.

It's hard to get a deal on WS on Amazon Canada, seems they're all resellers.
