While the rear seats in my 2009 LS460L are roomy and comfortable for us (no I don't have reclining rear seats), when having 3 adults passengers in the rear I cringe knowing how uncomfortable the middle padded bump is between the two main seats.

For my next project I'm thinking of cutting out the section and somehow making it removable and swap in a flatter more comfortable seat when I know I will have a middle passenger. Sitting on the bump is uncomfortable on longish rides and you lose around 3 inches for headroom. Both unacceptable.

Memory foam insert, swedish ball mat pad, come to mind. Has anyone figured out / seen alternatives?
