..they changed the battery but didn’t put the snuggie back in so I had to buy one.

They also mangled the filter holder so I bought a new one of those.

I was finally ready to start the car up. They way I primed it was I didn’t plug in the high or low pressure fuel injectors. Both clips are easily accessible right on top.

Put air filters back in.

I cranked the engine for about 3-4 cycles to circulate oil. At which point I then plugged the fuel injectors in and the below video is the first start. Note that around the 45 second mark it almost dies for some reason…then goes back to idling normally.

Now that the engine was up and running I only had the transmission fluid left to do. Follow the procedure and it isn’t too bad to do.

First make your jumper wires.

The fill plug is on the side, the drain is in the corner, the overflow is in the middle bottom.

OBD2 port is just to the left of the pedals/knee area.

Conveniently that M12 bolt washer is the same as the HP fuel rail pressure sensor.

I used a hand pump but this always gets so messy.

Then start the car and wait for the D light to come on-on the dashboard.

Here you can see the D light not on (nor the P light) meaning we’re in the proper maintenance mode.

Here the D is on so the temperature is correct. Quickly go underneath and fill the fluid until it comes out the overflow. Now you have a properly filled transmission.

Why do they use these stupid quarter turn things.

The bumper paint match is so horrible.

Put the strengthening bars on.

And the undertrays.

I also changed the oil again to get rid of any “build” particles.

All new battery area cowl hardware (plasticware).

New cabin filter holder as the existing one the previous guys broke the tabs off.

Now it was finally time to put the wheels back on and car on the ground. I started the car with the wheels lifted so naturally the bags deflated.

It lifts up quite easily.

Shortly after I finished I had to swap my winter tires over so got a chance to inspect it.

No coolant leaks.

You can also see the block heater plug in the top left.

New brakes are still looking good.

Take a close look at the marking on the rotor…and then what side of the car it’s on. I do not like the goobers who owned this car before me one bit.

And basically fully complete.

That's a really good write up and pictures, the thought of what your parts bill was almost makes me want to hurl with all those hoses and smaller parts.

After looking at all those pictures and trying get my head around doing that repair I think if and when it happens on my car I would get rid of it, I like my car but not that much.

Superior write up! Thank you so much for taking the time to document this. It had to slow you down a bunch.

I am simply amazed at your dedication to the LS460! Your write up and pictures will always be helpful to those willing to tackle this kind of project.

Regarding the valley plate issue; since I am not the least bit mechanically inclined, I have a great TLS guy who used to work for Toyota and he started his own shop. This was a few years ago, but it was 1300.00 to do the repair.

Y’all guys who can do this stuff are hero’s in my eyes.

Thanks again for the great write up and pics.

Nice job. From the above photo, it appears that the exhaust system hanger support bracket (Part No. 1750638091) is missing. Maybe Canadian LS460 models don't have this hanger support bracket?
