Default 2010 LS460 AWD Valley Pan Coolant Leak Part Numbers & Service Manual

I bought my 2010 LS460 AWD with 130k kms last summer for $18k CAD. I got not a bad deal on it considering the covid tax and peak inflation but then again this car was very neglected and the previous owner (he passed away so his kids sold it) did the absolute bare bones of maintenance and upkeep. For example, the carpets were vacuumed...but not a single time were the floor mats removed to do the vacuuming. The car was clean..but was absolutely filthy where the automatic drivethrough car wash didn't reach. They at least made an attempt but definitely way under what this car deserves. The front bumper was also re-sprayed very poorly. I spent a week cleaning inside and out so now it at least is a nice place to be. I don't know what spec this car is but it has the PCS system, radar cruise, rear reclining seats with that vibration remote thing. True reason I bought it is because the wife won't allow forward facing car seats and the LS460/A8/S-class size was the only one that can fit 2 rear facing seats with normal front driving positions; I refuse to buy a SUV.

I'm trying to sort all the issues out now with the first being the valley pan coolant leak. I've read the 3-4 recent threads on this forum that have meaningful information in them and I've come up with quite the list of parts. I'm also trying to do the hoses, water pump, and maybe the drivebelt stuff "while I'm in the area". I have 2 questions:

1. Can you have a look through my parts list below and see if you would add anything related to the coolant leak? You can ignore all other items.
2. Does anyone have the few pages of the service manual that guides how to remove the intake and get to the plastic tank/silicone gasket area? I'm ultimately after torque specs for the various items since the actual removal I can figure out. If you have the water pump service manual/torque specs that would be handy as well.

I bought the rip off $10 eBay service manual (I know I know....take me out back and shoot me ) and a few pages of it works but unfortunately the intake manifold and front of the engine stuff doesn't. Worst case is I'll cough up for the subscription but I'm not planning to do anything to this car other than basic maintenance after I sort this leak out and the front bouncing suspension.

Here are a few pictures of the general car and then the part numbers:

My previous Lexus was a 2002 IS300 Sportcross (wagon) which I sold for an Audi S4 V8 6MT AWD wagon. Looking forward to the day the kids are more grown up so I can buy a wagon again

Sorry, if I missed it but you will need valve cover gaskets, spark plugs and seals.

PCV valve and associated hoses. MAF sensor spray cleaner for sensors and cleaning throttle body. Coolant and brake fluid way overdue.

Thanks guys for the info and thank you for those torque diagrams!

I don't mind doing them but do the valve covers have to come off for the intake manifold to come out? Or is it that they're just easier to do with everything out of the way? If so not a bad idea to do them now.

One last question, in one of the other threads one of the guys said "I have the replacement electrical plug that always breaks". Do you know what plug he's talking about and where I can source one in case mine breaks coming out?

No, but you want to replace valve cover gaskets as they tend to leak with time. It will be easier when you have a lot of things out of the way for the valley plate repair.

Direct injector connectors (90980-12117) tend to brake regardless how careful you are. I had to replace, at least, 4 of them. Also, my throttle body connector broke and it was replaced.

You reminded me I owed pics to another member. Your list is good. I wish I would have videotaped the work because so many people need it. The only thing I cracked was the main wiring harness cover. I’m still in bed but going to put the pics here if it works. Do the valve cover gaskets and the 2 fuel pump gaskets

This 10mm was very difficult on the back of engine

Finished

Fully finished

yes I can confirm that the direct injectors are brittle. I don’t know how they are removed but you don’t want to unplug them because that’s the stupid plastic part that breaks. Also I was told that each time you unseat them it’s wise to replace all the seals. Ps the direct injectors are colour coded and need to be replaced exactly they are expensive so keep that in mind before messing with it.

I forgot to mention that some of my injectors broke too. I had to replace the entire bank of injectors that bought off a wrecked GS350.

How do you guys clean out all the excess crud from around the valley plate? Just a shop vac and lots of rags?

Scraped with small screw, shop vac coolant in and around the valley, sprayed hot water around the valley to remove caked on coolant then wiped clean.

Holy crap!!! You guys are awesome. Thank you for all the info, parts diagrams, and pictures. I'll add the valve cover stuff to my list of parts as well as some connectors. It takes a while for parts to come to Canada but once I get everything in and get going on this I'll post here.

Talking DIY LS460 Valley Plate Notes_v1

Hey all, I'm new to the LS 460 platform and have the coolant leak like many do. I have done the timing belt service on the LS430 and there were very good write up's of that process. So I took it upon myself (past 2 days) to scour the forums and create a How-To valley plate re-seal for the LS460 platform. I haven't actually done the job yet so all the photos and instructions are from other forum members. Most of the photos are from bpddaddy and Anfanger for tips and tricks. Thank you! (yes I'm an engineer that's been writing technical pubs for the past 7 years).

Please use this, comment if anything is wrong. I'm planning to do the job sometime within the next month. I'll make a separate forum thread when I do. This is a rough-cut V1 alpha document.

This, you might as well do the covers DI pumps when the intake is off. You probably will break connectors, I never have but there is 1000% a trick to doing it that requires experience and time/tools
