"These transmissions like to eat fluid". l don't recall this ever being said before on this forum, in years of membership. Is this your personal experience only or do you have some examples of others/mechanics stating this? I'm not ******* you, I really want to know. I have read that over or under filled can cause issues.

Agreed. Seen no cases of fluid just disappearing, but tons of underfills (due to not following factory procedure).

Maybe the fluid is getting passed the rings or valve guides

I have a 2008 LS 460 RWD with 101,000 miles. The transmission had a slight whine when driving. I was thinking the fluid might be slightly low. I pulled the overflow plug and just under 2 quarts came out. I added 1 quart the put it back in. I had the car jacked up and level to try to be as precise as possible .The transmission whined louder and quit pulling. I thought the overflow plug might have the overflow tube to properly check fluid level, but no luck that’s why I pulled the overflow plug. Any suggestions. Thank you.

It's crucial to follow Lexus procedure when filling trans fluid. This involves monitoring temp with software while filling. These trans are very sensitive about over or under filling. This is documented and not just my opinion. Best move is take it to a Lexus knowledgeable shop and have them adjust the fluid level to spec.

You didnt follow the proper filling procedure which is temperature specific. Old school way is to fill exactly what comes out but since you dont know what tge level was, now you need to fill per the manual.

Id take it to the dealer for a pan drop and fill since you might have another issue.
