Thanks, Rick, did they know all the nuances of a Lexus tranny with respect to the correct amount of fluid, the right fluid temperature, shift sequence, etc. or are you saying they just dropped the pan, changed the filter and added some fluid and they were done?

It seems you may be overthinking this. While there is a protocol to temperature and refilling, no one is dismantling or adjusting anything. So, yeah, drop pan, change filter and gasket and you're done. You don't need a transmission shop. I've not seen anyone here go to a trans shop in the years I've been an active member. Did you look up or contact the two shops I suggested to you?

You do need to command a shift offset relearn....at least if you want it to shift smoothly as quickly as possible and avoid any extra wear.

Japtech, Pembroke Pines and JAP shop Oakland Park Blvd
As the above receipt shows- a drain and fill is done 3-4 times to dilute the remaining fluid. Conversely, when removing the pan, more fluid comes out but still not all of it. Once your trans runs smoothly again, it's up to you how many more times you wish to dilute the remaining old fluid with fresh fluid.

Thanks Striker223. This is the reason I want to make sure I find a shop that knows how to complete a drain and fill my 2008 LS460 L.

They are very familiar with the lexus transmission. I called a few shops in the Raleigh area as well as on the coast. Most are familiar with the Dealerships hesitancy on wanting to do any preventative maintenance on transmissions. Strangely I have a 2010 tundra that needed my transmission rebuilt two years ago and the transmission sticker is labeled as a lexus transmission. The local shop did a great job on rebuilding it and they are the same shop I used to service my lexus. So long story short when you call to research the shop and if they are knowledgeable about the lexus and if they can explain how they service it you should get an idea of if they have experience.

Yes, thank you very much, I did receive your DM although I thought you liked the WPB shop better as their prices were more reasonable. Did you get a quote yet from Eric Wrench yet? If not, I can call tomorrow. I called the JAP Shop (yes thats their name) in Ft Lauderdale and waiting for a call back. I was hoping to get a good referral from the forum in Coral Springs, Pompano areas for logistic purposes since I will be doing this drain and fill 3-4 times.

I am very new here on this forum so I'll say this on the front end to apologize for speaking out of subject.
What is the reason for the ecu, ecm, to see the correct temperature? Does light come on? Why is there this step?
What if you just dis-connect all battery current, drain and fill of the amount you remove, (the dilution method) Does the ecm know you did it? just curious on what trips what?

What happend to me once was the mettle plat that is silver looks like an "x" was bowed upward towards the bottom of the trans. at that same RPM AND SPEED it would rattle on the trans housing.... I took it to a dealership and they couldnt' figuar it out but then when I asked to inspect under the car they let me and I found the plat was touching the housing. pulled it down and wala ....

Ok quick reply back, referred by a member THANK YOU, and took it to Eric's Wrench in Delray Beach, FL.
They performed a drain and fill, its now 60-70% better already, I will do 2 more drain and fills. My question, at what mileage or time interval from the 1st drain and fill should I do the second drain and fill and so on?

Just so the old and new fluid has mixed. A week of driving is ample.
