Question Base LS460 vs LS460L headroom?

About a month ago I was car shopping and came across a 2010 LS460L, which blew me away comfort-wise. It surprised me the amount of headroom it had (I'm 6'5 so headroom has been a huge issue for me car shopping).

I placed an order through Carvana last week for a 2011 LS460 (regular SWB version) and the car finally arrived today. However I immediately noticed the headroom is much less than what I remember. Even with the seat all the way down and after trying different seat positions, my head still brushes against the top liner and it's quite frustrating. According to specs online both trims should have the same headroom (38.0 in.). I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

Does the regular LS460 actually have less headroom than the LS460L? Or am I just imagining things?

Thanks!

Faulty memory most likely. If you're certain the seat is totally bottom out, tilt the back backwards. You can adjust the steering wheel in/out and up/down.

When I bought my ‘07 L I noticed the passenger seat didn’t go back as far as the drivers. Turned out there was a piece of hard candy (I kid you not) lodged in a track that impeded full movement. Perhaps something is stuck under the seat? I’m about your same height and I test drove several 460’s, both base and L, and noticed no difference in head clearance. My challenge is getting in and out of the car. I don’t bend and flex the way I use to so I tend to drag my head along the B pillar and head liner Right in the corner) on the in and out. I’m keeping a sharp eye out for those parts at my local savage yards.
Congrats on your purchase! Good Luck!

Gosh, first LS460 I owned - a year went by happily (and I tend to raise my seat towards upper limits) then I do a vacuum and lo and behold - whole CD folder with like 50 discs is found under drivers seat. And I vacuum regularly. Lol. Contents of that folder made me cringe tho, no details, nsfw stuff basically. I STILL HAVE IT IF YOU'RE WONDERING. IT'S ZIPPED UP. Hoarder.

I had both a SWB and a LWB, headroom is exactly the same.

Not to highjack the thread but between my 2014 LS460 and my 2002 LS430 the 430 has about 3-4 extra inches of headroom. So much headroom in the LS430 you can about get eye level with some CUV's like CX-30, HR-V, and C-HR.

No doubt that’s true, 430 has more headroom.

Supderek, did you find anything in the tracks to block the lowering? While you've got the flashlight out, look for the round air filters under the two front seats. They most certainly are filthy by now.
