Battery Change
The ECU loses its memory when the battery is replaced. There are items that have to be ‘initialized’ after the battery has been removed and a new one connected. Refer to your owner’s manual.
My mechanic who services my wife’s LS430 has a portable power supply that he connects so that power is not interrupted when the battery is removed.
I’m a little nervous about messing with any electronics
on my LS500. I’d probably ‘bite the bullet’ and let the dealer do it.
There must be 100 electric motors on this car and that worries me.

Battery replacement was no problem however now I have the RCD OFF and PKSB OFF flashing.
The manual said to drive straight at 22MPH for 5 seconds and turn the steering wheel All the way left then all the way right
on a level surface.
Didn’t work. Any other ideas? Does this Lexus have the “secret maintenance menu” as others do?

I figured it all out. You have to access the Service Menu. To do this the doors must be shut. With the car started hold down the menu button and turn the headlights off and on 4 times. The menu will pop up. Go to Function Check/Setting. Then go to Camera Setting. Then use the back button beside the menu button to navigate to Steering Angle Setting. Hold down the Menu button to access this function. Go to Next and press the Menu button.
Go to Max Steering Angle Memorize and press the Menu button. Turn the wheel all the way to the left and hold Menu button until the beep. Then turn all the way to the right and hold Menu until it’s beeps
Then toggle over to Steering Center Memorize and put the steering wheel straight. Hold the Menu button until it beeps.
Thats what worked for me. There may be an easier way.

Just replaced the battery on my 2018 car at around 35,000 miles. A quick note below.
1. Got Interstate "H7 AGM" from Costco for $184. They ran out of "H6 AGM" and I Googled around... H7 has slightly larger capacity and is a bit wider than H6, but kind of interchangeable. LS500's battery bay holds H7 AGM well.
2. The battery was dead for several days already. I installed the new battery and started the car and let it sit around for a few minutes. The clock even returned to the correct time!
3. I got the "Rear Camera Detection Unavailable" error message on screen that didn't go away. Instead of going into the maintenance menu, I just started the card, left it in Park, then turn the steering wheel to the left and right extreme. The error message disappeared!
4. Removing battery needs 10mm wrench to release the clamping bar (2 screws) and loosen the battery terminals. Be very careful, the battery is HEAVY!

Hi, @faifai83: The old battery was completed dead when I replaced it. I remember I had to jump it probably 4-5 months ago, and then it just drop dead suddenly. I measured the voltage with a meter, and it was less than 6V. I tried to trickle-charge it, and no use. No more charge left to even open the trunk. So I guess the answer to your question is probably zero! I bought the car used in 2/2021 with about 14,000 miles. I have not replaced the battery ever, so that's about 5+ years since new. Considering that, I was actually pretty happy with how long the old battery lasted.
