SW15LS.. why are you even wasting your time? You are fanning the flame.. lol..

until an ES owner owns a LS.. they wouldn't understand..

I used to think how overpriced and crappy a BMW was.. until I bought one..

You don’t see the value and that’s fine, but that doesn’t mean other people are wrong because they don’t share your ideas about value. I’m not going to go over to an S550 forum and badger them about their higher depreciation and their choices to spend more than I do. Their car is better than mine and that’s okay, I’m happy with what I have and what I chose to pay. The LS is clearly a better car than the ES, you chose not to pay for that and that’s fine.

The absurd statement is that the all new state of the art LS500 is not a better car than your pre-refresh entry level ES. That statement is just absurd lol. The only area it isn’t better is gas mileage, and that’s not something I even compare when looking at a car. I couldn’t even tell you what sort of mileage any of my cars get. The gas mileage is only notably worse compared to the hybrid, compared to the 350 the LS mileage is surprisingly similar.

I agree moderator. HE brought MY ES300h into this thread, and demeaned it. No Lexus is lesser than another Lexus...PERIOD. Moving on now. Enjoy your day.

"No Lexus is lesser than another Lexus..."

I feel like we've entered Lake Wobegon, where "all the children are above average..." (with credit given to Garrison Keeler, the accused sex offender ;-)

Maybe I should continue Trolling the LS500 forum by pointing out how much I'm enjoying my Genesis G90... You guys were nice enough to let my comments slide, which I'm thankful for!

Your LS is 10 years old. Have you considered a 2018?

This is an asinine statement. You sound like a Mercedes buyer who is trying to convince their friend that their new CLA is the same as the S-Class. They are entirely different cars! I bought my ES knowing it was a glorified Camry, however, I bought it based on value just like you bought your ES. I've owned nearly all Lexus models (ES, RX, LS, GS, IS, CT and SC) and they are all vastly different cars. The 2018 LS is not on my radar at this point, but from all the reviews I have read, this car is on a level Lexus has never reached before (not including the LFA). It should, in no way, be compared to the ES!

If you read the thread you will see it is a TRUE statement; HE introduced MY ES300h into the thread, and you claiming my pointing that out is "an asinine statement." I have purchased new a 1991 ES300, 1993 SC300, 1997 LS400, 2002 ES300, and my current 2015 ES300h; I did not rent them. All may be different but none was/is "lesser." I agree the 2018 LS "is on a level Lexus has never reached before;" it is now a $100K+ car (their are seven at Longo Lexus, where I purchased my vehicle, at $98,145, $100,250, $101,054, $102,614, $103,267, $104,322, and $105,624) which will be worth half in 2020.

“All animals [or Lexus cars, in this case] are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

George Orwell, Animal Farm

I am also reminded of how modern day youth sports teams are ran, where no one is allowed to keep score and everyone gets a ribbon at the end...

The 2018 is objectively a WAY better car than a 2015 ES350, but obviously isn't for everyone... Whether the new LS is "worth" the sticker price is an individual assessment, but there's no denying the car itself is miles ahead of the 2015 ES in terms of features, refinement, etc. As for me, I'm blissfully happy with my 2017 Genesis G90, but will be very interested to test drive a 2018 LS500 when they are available.

Agree to disagree. You will test drive a 2018 LS500, but you will not buy a 2018 LS500.

This is getting silly. I'll first say that I have no complaints with my ES that I purchased almost 5 years ago. Now, It shouldn't take a debate to realize that the LS is made to a higher standard than the ES and justifies its cost premium. It's pretty clear. That said, I doubt I would buy an LS if/when I increase my car budget. At that price point I would go German. I would want something that stands out and is fun to drive. It looks like the 2018 LS would only cover half of that. It definitely stands out now! Maybe not in a good way, but time will tell. I need to see one in person, as the photos in the first post are not appealing to me.

Not only are those photos not appealing, neither is the reality (and no one here has denied it) that this now $100K+ car WILL be worth half in 2020; those who lease it had better buy GAP..

I live in Southern California and the largest Lexus dealer is Longo in El Monte. There are seven (7) LS500 on their website, inventory, and they range from $98,145 to $105,624.

The dealer is likely stocking configurations they think will be popular for their clientele.

I stand corrected. The ones on the Longo website are LC500. NO new LS are on their website.
