It seems to be a common complaint that turbocharged engines have problems meeting the EPA ratings in normal driving, particularly in town. Just a little bit of aggressive driving will result in high fuel consumption when the turbo boost kicks in. This issue is not unique to the LS500.
but fwiw my g90’s ttv6 gives me 21mpg average on 50/50 city highway. and i am not always driving gently either.
the tt pull is just too much fun.

I took my car on a 200 mile round trip with about 90% highway driving. I kept the speed between 70 - 75 mph on the highway with 4 adults in the car and a full trunk -- got about 31 mpg. The same car gives me about 16 mpg in mostly city driving. I have the panoramic glass roof as well, so that adds another 200 lbs to the weight of the car.
On my previous LS460Ls I used to get about 29 - 30 mpg on the highway.

The wheel size makes a difference too. Are you on base 19’s or the 20’s?
The smaller wheels will generally do better with the MPG, and I’m sure that’s how Lexus tests them for efficiency ratings.

20" wheels. I did not even think that the diameter of the rim makes a difference to mileage. Doesn't that depend on the outer circumference of the tire? As long as its the same, (smaller rims have thicker sidewalls while larger rims have smaller sidewalls with the outer tire circumference being the same) the car should be covering the same distance for every rotation of the wheel.

yes, but the wheels/tires are heavier the bigger you go, and the aerodynamics worsen.

I'm getting 23 mpg using Sport mode in 55/45 Hwy/City driving. I'm not lead-footing it every take off, but just gotta pass some people. I keep the tires at 35 psi cold. I'm not calculating the mpg, just reading what the display says.

...I get about 17 MPG on regular gas around town using the Eco mode and radar cruise. Premium (what the sticker was based on) will increase my mileage by ~2 MPG but that does not make up for the price markup for premium in Dallas. I find the Eco mode is just fine with the transmission smoothly shifting up into the tall gears to save fuel.../

I also use a custom drive mode with 'Comfort' Chassis, 'Power' Powertrain, and 'Normal' Climate; however, my settings stay as selected, and are there each time I start the car. Perhaps because those settings were also saved when I saved the custom seat adjustment and position settings?
I'm getting 23 mpg using Sport mode in 55/45 Hwy/City driving. I'm not lead-footing it every take off, but just gotta pass some people. I keep the tires at 35 psi cold. I'm not calculating the mpg, just reading what the display says.
