Tinting the LS500
Thinking of adding tint to the Ls.
the tinting place suggests 35%, which is leagal in MA.
Now the question 😊
if I tint 35% will cops stop me in Other states?
How about if I drive to Canada ?
do you guys have experience with tinting windows?
any advise will be appreciated
thanks in advance!

Here's a link from AAA on laws by state: https://drivinglaws.aaa.com/tag/glass-window-tinting/
I'm not an expert, but 35% should be safe. Going even darker, to 20%, is allowed on the rear windows in many states. My last car was tinted darker than what is legal (20% all around), and I never had any problems. But I was always careful to roll down my windows if getting pulled over, being next to police car, etc.

I'm currently from Mass running 20% and here is the honest truth from my experience. In other states they can pull you over for tint if they want to be an *** about it, they can't really enforce it as you are passing through and do not reside in that state so I wouldn't worry about it. Canada you don't have to worry, I've been there multiple times when I had my GS and that was tinted from the front windshield to the side windows. I have only one guy that I trust and he is a perfectionist, which I love about him so if he doesn't like the way it came out he takes it off and re-tints it. If you want his info dm me and I'll give it to you.
i just sent you a DM,
i was very curious about passing through other states.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. Very helpful!

all relative to the type of tint ceramic vs non ceramic
and quality of the tint
if your in a non hot area 3m color stable 50 is a great product for clarity not to light or dark
pinnacle formula 1 ceramic 50 is also a great ceramic tint can be had for $350
my choice would be 3m crystalline 40 if you like a clean, look with great heat rejection. can't beat it for clarity and quality of visibility with great heat rejection
they also make it in a 70% if your concerned about getting a ticket it still will look nice and provide a 40 % reduction in heat
if your worried about traveling a 40% or 50% tint is best nothing darker
in orange county california all day long pass cops with 35% on cars and no issue
wouldn't be speeding 90 at night with a dark tint but if your concnered about it stick to 50%
good luck

the other advice i would give you
is not to listen to 99 out of 100 people on car forums about tint
everyone usually likes dark tints and they will tell you to go 20 or 30 or 35%
as example why its an issue
lets say you had a grey ls500 with darker interior the darkness of the interior will also darken the look of tint
with a 50% good tint it will strike the balance, i think your in Massachusetts so it will be a win win

Only when parking. I roll the windows down if I need to see out while parking. While driving, I can see headlights and if anyone is in my blindspot, the blind spot light on the mirrors are more than bright enough. Full 5% around gives the car a completely different look. So nice and the privacy and heat reduction it gives makes up for any inconveniences.

I finally did the tint. went with a 40% ceramic tint. since the factory window has a light shade, it ended up being 37% (when tested it after the tinting).
Seems like a good balance so far. I still can see the side view mirrors very well.
Thank you all for the advices you all shared.
