Looking for your feedback - Does this tire problem appear intentiaonal
Hi everyone,
I've got a situation that is really driving me nuts. On Aug 8 I went to my local dealer to have them look at my left rear tire that had a screw jamed in it. My tire pressure at the time was good and I had not noticed any different. Well the dealer indicated that this screw was in a part of the tire that they cannot repair, close to the sidewall. So I started a search online for tires as the dealer wanted to charge me $475.00 per tire.
Fast forward to today. Walked to my car to leave work and as I was putting my laptop bag in the back seat I noticed something hanging off my tire (look at the picture). I don't know what it is. It looks like wire, maybe a nail, I just can't tell. But it's strange that the damn thing is one click over from the screw that is in the tire. Due you guys think this is a coincidence ?

The chances of two object punctures next to each other in the same tire are very low IMO. Well unless you drive through a metal scrap yard. But wait, you are currently driving like that?

Hey there Lexus2000 - yep, waiting for my new tire to arrive from TireRack which should be here tomorrow. I agree, I thought this was far more than a coincidence. I do have home construction going on where I live, but the companies that are doing the building have been very good about sweeping the streets and I'm usually driving opposite direction of the construction.

I found the same screw in my brand new 325 25 19 Michelins on me vette, I panicked, got angry, thought someone put it there etc...
Then I took it out and it was only in the tread a few mm's
If you aren't losing air pressure it may not of even went through
That other thing sticking out of the side …… I don't know, but try to pull it out and see

If you drive on it, when it is flat no its not repairable as the tire will internal chew itself up at the edges. But if theres a puncture and was able to put air in it before it goes flat, then yes you can fix it with an inside patch. But most shops will not do this on run flats because of liability issues. Thats why you might find a mom n pop shop willing to do the repair.
