2020 Shortage?

Purely my perception of what the OP is saying, but I've had that line being thrown at me from salespeople all the time...in fact my 2nd car (Camry) the salesperson told me that, and I fell for it, bought it the very next morning.
The LS is a low volume vehicle; compound that with this being January 2020, there is a finite inventory amount of the LS500 but I woudn't think it would be limited, necessarily. Unless the OP is looking for a specific color/trim/feature (at which point, wait 1-2 months)?

U.S. market LS sales in the 2019 calendar year fell by slightly over 40% from the 2018 calendar year which seems to be a significant downward trend. I wouldn't expect the Lexus dealer near me to be ordering many 2020 LS500 on spec since there are still unsold new 2019 LS500 in their inventory.
A person should still be able to special order what he wants in a 2020 LS500 although it might take a few months to get.

It came from 2 different dealers. The first one was where my lease on the GS is at so he knows that I need a new car. The second was another well respected dealer. Both did come in December, but they both said there is low inventory. I should also say I am on the east coast.

In my area all the dealers ran out of '19 LS's at the beginning of DECEMBER. So I think it depends on the local area. Bottom line is the dealers will buy inventory based on sales expectations and there should not be any "shortages" since the factory is quite capable of filling all orders. Just another salesman trying to pressure you to spend more for a car than you should. They have some leverage over you if they know you have a lease that is about to expire. Consider buying out of state and picking the car up from any dealer willing to give you the best deal. Unfortunately, this is probably the worst time of year to buy a car at a great price. The real incentives start in the spring/summer when the factory and dealers start to prepare for the next model year arrivals in late summer/early fall.

This topic makes me wonder. I had a 1995 Infiniti Q45a which I absolutely loved. Infiniti discontinued the Q45 after the 2005 model. I assume because sales were too low.
I wonder if LS sales go too low, Lexus will simply discontinue the model.

The LS is a global model - almost why the LX (or LandCruiser) is kept around, even though they both sell in the US in low volumes. Toyota/Lexus sells them in other markets as well; I *don't* think they would discontinue the LS.
