So now after having owned a 2013 ES 350 and 2015 LS 460 and test driving the 2019 ES 350 I now own a 2018 LS 500 .There are a couple of things that Frustrate me on the LS 500 starting with
Why cant I see the MPG for the car after I fill up on gas . I see an MPG rating related to trip A .I have no idea if this is for the life of the car or the last trip set and weirdly that MPG has not moved in the last 2 weeks of owning the car. Ive looked through several menus?
Why is the steering so stiff even in comfort mode
Why does changing the drive modes do nothing for the feel of the car except when put in to sport VS - The 2015 LS 460 had a noticeable difference in handling when put into eco mode and sport mode.
Why does the stereo have such a altered sound , and why it seems like a downgrade vs the older model LS models and even the 2015 ES 350
Why does turning on surround sound does nothing vs in the 2015 ES it made the stereo come alive .
Why is there no way for u to easily control the seat heat /cool and the air flow flow direction from the vents without going into several menus
I do like the new look of the 500 and the increased speed and power from the turbo and the beautifull interior . however the things above seems like they went backwards in terms development and i cant wrap my head around it. Anyone care to explain.

My biggest gripe after 1.5+ year is the terrible throttle lag just off idle. It's very annoying in the city. I do have a list of gripes too but most are more nit-picky. I wish they would put the ES style seat heat/cool buttons back on the dash as physical buttons though.
I think the steering could be a touch lighter but that's a personal preference. I don't have any sound system complaints.
The LS500 is a downgrade from the previous LS's in many ways, for sure. IMHO you can thank car "journalists" for that. e.g. oh the LS is too old fashioned, it's not sporty enough, blah, blah.
I like the interior and the fuel economy on the highway is always better than the published rated figure.
In case Lexus reads this, the lack of power off the line is the reason I likely will not buy another LS. Maybe once they go electric they can eliminate that lag, I don't know.

You might be right about the car journalist pushing this nonsense. because it seems like all the things they have been complaining about in reviews have now become targets for lexus to change. However a lexus is not a BMW or Mercedes and need to stick to its core values and ride handling as most folks who choose a lexus choose it for exactly for that reason. Lexus seems to be bending over backwards to make changes to a point it may be alienating some loyal customers.

They can't win, though. Too bland and the journalists complain, too sporty and owners complain!
