Default Coolant Leak

My 2020 LS loses coolant overnight while sitting in the garage, usually a few drops. Peering under the engine cover I see pink residue around the top of the water pump. I have added about a cupful of coolant to the engine coolant reservoir on the passenger side.
I have an appt. with nearest Lexus dealer 103 miles away.
Would I be safe driving it to the dealer since it doesn’t appear to be losing coolant while running? I can carry extra coolant and stop a couple of times just to check under the hood. I would prefer this to dealing with a flat-bed wrecker, even thought it is covered under warranty.

My guess would be O rings. If it's just a small amount and you top it off, I would think it'd be ok to drive.

‘O’ rings where? In the water pump?

You'll be fine. No need to top it up. You could lose a couple quarts of coolant and it would be fine.

Completely fine to drive. This residue you see may be due to some coolant coming out of the "weep hole" on the water pump which will expel some coolant from time to time. However, its always a good idea to get it checked out just to make sure everything is okay.

I hope you are right. The damn thing hasn’t leaked in 3 days! I’m pretty **** about my cars. I couldn’t image a Lexus water pump failing in 36,000 miles.
service appointment (103 miles to nearest dealer) isn’t until Wednesday.
If it doesn’t leak again by then, I may cancel.

Wow, that's really surprising. Usually parts like that fail almost immediately, or last 80K-100K miles. Failing after two years and 30K miles is odd. My 2008 Tundra's water pump started leaking at year 10 with 80K miles.

This car had been thru Lexus’ 161 point checklist less than 1,000 miles ago. From the looks of all the pink residue around the water pump, I’m inclined to believe there was some leakage at that time and they missed it.
Car is still under regular factory warranty. I’m not really upset other than the fact that I am 100 miles from the dealer. I just hope it’s a fluke. Dealer said it was unusual on such a new car.
I love the way this car looks, feels, drives, plan to keep it many years.
Wife has been driving ‘02 LS430 for 12 years.
