Air Intake Mod + ECT Reprogram = Power
There was a question about ECT switch a while back and I said there is my air intake mod needed to make a big power improvement.
First the air intake, you must remove the front piece of the air filter box.
Then remove the back end of filter box and add a 1/2 rubber bumper to the bottom ( pic)

because the front of air box cover will be left off you must make to brackets to hold on the over the radiator and use the nuts on radiator support

Now to the ECT reprogram, It is very simple and to be done on freeway ramps...Turn off AC, car must be in 3rd gear ( out of overdive) and turn on ECT make sure that light is on the dash.
From dead start floor it and keep it floored until it runs throught all three gears, and do this about the 6 times , it can be done in a few days and you should notice that the RPM's should start to raise on shifts.........after awhile the trans will shift well into the red line ( only when in ETC mode ) but in regular mode the car will shift much better than before.

The ECT reprogram may work short- term, but being an adaptive transmission, it will eventually "learn" your normal shift patterns and relapse back into its previous shift patterns. I suppose if you are the type that drives aggressively anyway that it will yield long-lasting benefits. I've yet to floor my LS400 and who knows if I ever will!

So what kind of performance gains can one expect? Is it noticeable? Where do you notice the increase? Low, Mid or Top?
I have to admit that is a very creative way to improve the stock intake.
