yeah on this engine you have to unbolt the alternator, its kind of tricky, because it has a couple bolts and a belt holding it on
to make matters worse there are a couple wires going to it

really a mess

It will be done from below. Take off serpentine belt. Remove one nut from top. get under car. Remove round plastic wire plug from alternator. Remove hold downs for AC pipes. Remove other bolt from bottom. Twist the whole alternator so that you can unscrew the second wire. Carefully manuver out the alternator. Its a tight squeeze. Kinda like your car having a baby....

Anybody ever hear the idiom "The only stupid question is the one that's never asked." Not going to kiss **** here, you guys should get a life besides picking on people asking simple questions.

Changing the alternator is a bit of cake. If you want instructions checkout my posts on here and other LS sites. Won't take you much over an hour unless you are a sucker for brews like me. Word of advice, if it is damp with oil it will be power steering fluid and you need the reservoir O ring replacing. Again it's a bit of cake & $3 and I've posted full instructions.

Its much easier to do it from the bottom, if you're going to do it from the top, you will have to remove the engine fan.
