LS400lifes LS
I wanted to share with you my 1990 Lexus LS400.
It is also sitting on JIC FLA2 coilovers. Oh yeah! I don't have any pictures of the brakes but I now have slotted and drilled rotors and performance pads too.
Altezza Red and White taillights
20% tint (I think?)
Niche Shok wheels
toyo Proxy 4 tires
(These pictures are not with the coilovers on. These were when it sat on tokico shocks and H&R springs. The gab is completely gone with the coilovers)
Speakers: Focal component speakers up front and focal 2 ways in the rear
Subwoofer: Alumapro RX-12 in an obcon ported box
Amplifiers: Mono channel JBL Grand Touring Series for my subwoofer (500+watts) and a 4 channel JBL Grand Touring Series for my door speakers

Car Info
It has a gray interior with gray cloth seats, heated seats, heated mirrors, heated rear window, sunroof, auto dimming mirror, a/c, auto everything. I should note that this is the only cloth interior I have ever personally seen. The first owner must have special ordered this car because it seems to have a summer and winter package. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k85bse52ynI

I had to hold the tripod in the car so I couldn't drive to fast. Plus there were quite a few people out so it wasn't to safe to go as fast as I can go.
Car Info
Performance
Otto R strut bar, adco sway bars, magnaflow mufflers, flowmaster resonators, and magnaflow tips. It sounds sick! It is also sitting on JIC FLA2 coilovers. Oh yeah! I don't have any pictures of the brakes but I now have slotted and drilled rotors and performance pads too.

Yeah I know what you mean. They are old and have seen better days. I'd like to throw some 18's on. I will do new wheels and tires when I put the supra brakes up front. I'd like to do a manual swap too. That will happen when I rebuild the motor. I found everything needed, I just need to order it up and get wrench'n.

This is what i'm thinkin. http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=2489
It should look pretty sweet with the coilovers slammed. I might even go to airbags too. I can't make up my mind. Decisions, decisions. lol

sorry, car looks clean but there isnt anything "rare" about it unless you consider the cloth interior rare (which in the 90/91 MY, it wasnt). 392 isnt worth much considering there were 41-42 thousand LS' produced in 1990.
that being said, your mods for the car so far (other than the imho hideous wheels) are solid choices, though i do question your idea of putting a manual trans in the car, rebuilding the motor, then dropping the car on airbags ( )
same goes for the wheels, it seems like you need to figure out what general style or look you're trying to achieve with the car, sporty, VIP/EXE, drift bucket, etc. and get a feel for what wheel/suspension/motor combination is going to get you what you want. for example, racing wheels and a 5speed do a VIPStyle car not make, and airbags and a banging sound system make not a sporty car.

Oviously someone thinks differantly than you:
I know the whole "cloth interior thing" has been rehashed numerous times, but I can tell you that you have a very unusual car. I've never heard of a 90 LS400 having heated cloth seats and I've seen a lot more cars with cloth interiors than most people.
Usually cars with cloth seats had very few options and only cars with leather were ordered with heated seats. If your car has heated seats, then it must also have TRAC -- these two options could not be purchased separately.
If "power everything" means that your car also has memory seats and memory power telescoping steering wheel then you may have an extraordinarily rare car. Not that it is going to be worth more -- it's mainly a curiosity.

Having purchased a LS400 with gray cloth interior in early 1990, I think you have an extraordinarily rare option combination. Usually the cars with cloth interior had relatively few options.
I have NEVER seen an early LS400 with cloth interior that also had seat heaters. I didn't think that combination was available but your car seems to prove that it was.
Hey, the wheels are not my favorite but I think they are fine. They certainly seem more classy than most of the "big wheels" I've seen on gen 1 LS400s.
Your car looks very, very nice. The audio install looks great.
Look on the first line of the door jam sticker for the manufacture month and year. Early 1990 LS400s will have a manufacture date of 06/1989 or earlier.
Attached is a photo of the back seat of the 90 LS with gray cloth I had -- includes a view of the retractable rear window shade that was offered briefly as a Lexus dealer installed accessory.
I loved the 90's cloth interior and it looked like new when I finally sold the car in 2003. The 2000 Celsior was available with cloth ... wish my 2000 LS400 had cloth.

LS400life, that's funny that you found my old post as I was repeating some of what I said again in a new one.
I wouldn't call 90-91 LS400s with cloth "rare" but I've seen only a handful ... and I've been a Lexus enthusiast from "day one" when they were selling cars out of converted mobile homes.
The day I bought my 90 LS with cloth, the Lexus dealer salesman told me that, if I didn't buy it, they were trucking it to a Lexus dealer in Arizona who wanted all the LS400's with cloth he could get. Apparently people in Phoenix weren't enjoying burning their butts on leather seats.
The Kansas City Lexus dealer wasn't having much success selling LS400s with cloth which allowed me to get an expecially good deal on the 90. Having driven a Mercedes with that awful "MB Tex" fake leather for the previous 10 years, I especially liked the 90's cloth interior.
