Default Update: Revere Polarity Jump Starting 92 LS400. Radio & More Wont Work

The wife jump started 1992 LS400 with a battery booster. Positive and negative cables were backwards. She says that a little smoke arose and she quickly removed them. Unfortunately the damage was done. The car starts and drives well but many features were rendered inoperational. The radio doesnt come on, cabin lights dont work (overhead light and back seat passenger lights), power door locks, electric steering wheel tilt, the electric windows use to work when you remove the key until you open a door (but now only when the key is in the turned on position, the standard security system doesnt light up and work also. I changed the 120 amp fuse marked alternator under the hood but apparantly that wasnt the problem. I am dying without the radio (the car already doesnt have AC). Please help!!!!

UPDATE: I checked all the fuses and still can't find the problem? Thsese are all the fuses I could find.

also everytime I start the car the trip resets itself.

Ahh man,

I feel your pain. Got to love our wives. Not to turn this into a wife bashing but mine curbed my wheels the other day. I asked if she stopped when she heared it and how far around the rim? I said just a knick? She said no half way around.

Like Pure said check all fuses, hopefully this is it. Thats why we have them.

So how many times and how long have you started and ran the car after this incident?

So if you aren't able to start it again i would say battery probably took a sh!z. You can get it tested for integrity. Check battery wires as well.

Start to check all electrical. Unfortunately something was fried. Alternator, check visually to see if there are any tell signs of frying.

And last and hopefully not this,

Main wiring harness or ecu.

Good luck, please post findings.

The car has two fuse boxs right, the one in the engine bay and the one inside the car near the e-break?

Wow half of the rim huh I bet it makes you wish it was a Stick shift, well my wife can't drive a stick even if her life depended on it lol which leaves my 04 350z out of harms way (the Z is my baby)
Ok after I replaced the alternator fuse the car turned on fine. At first the car wouldn't hold it's charge but after driving it for a few minutes the battery charged right up. I can drive the car with no problems only thing is my dome lights don't work, my telescopic steering wheel is out, the unlock lock door button is not working, and the radio won't turn on.
How will I be able to tell if the ecu is bad? Thanks for the quick response guys.

Ok so I checked all the fuses inside and the ones in the engine bay only ones that were blown were the alternator and radio #1. Radio, door locks, and the steering wheel tilt still don't work. One thing I did notice is that my trip indicator resets itself everytime I start the car??? And I noticed there are 3 breaker fuses inside the vehicle under the steering wheel could those be bad??? Thanks for the help so far guys
