Hi all:
I just bought from a private party a 2001 LS-430. I notice when I turn the key to a position where the instrument cluster powers up, the fuel gauge needle slams from the bottom position to the top position and bounces a few times before settling at the fuel level position. I observed this with a full tank of gas, but I haven't gone through a tank of gas yet, so I don't know whether that happens at low fuel levels. But right now, wit the tank at 3/4, it still does the same thing.
Is this normal behaviour for the 2001 LS-430?

Thanks for the response and recommendation. I have an appointment with the closest Lexus dealer on Thursday -- I'll add the fuel gauge needle bouncing problem to the list of items to address along with the specific recommendation to replace both fuel sender units.
