Remove my center console to get a coin out of inside my center console
Hi all,
I let a coin slip down inside the center console of my 2004 LS430 and it's making an annoying rattle while I drive.
More annoying is my Lexus dealer wants over $300 to open the console and fish out the penny.
I've removed the 2 screws under the protective layer at the bottom of the ccenter console, but I can't lift the center console out to get the coin out.
Any advice?
Many thanks!
Mark

Look up the ashtray replacement kit thread - should be pictures and instructions there. Its easy and takes 2 minutes to open it up. Wow they quoted you $300 bucks to do that - the service advisor guy should have been wearing a mask and a gun to make that estimate...

You will have to dig a bit here but you should be able to find how to get the consule open.

Thanks to all who replied! I took my LS430 to a local independent auto repair shop that works on my sons' (non-Lexus) cars.
He removed the penny for 30 minutes labor, or $40. Lexus quoted me 2 1/2 hours of labor at $120 per hour or $300.
Shame on you, Lexus.
