Overpacked..Now trunk wont lock...WTF!!!
I stupidly overpacked my trunk on the kiddos first trip to the beach... and after arranging my speaker box, and baby swings and etc etc, I had to slam close my trunk.. I know, "BAD IDEA".. well now i think the lock hook on the top mechanism seems to have seized and not move when my keychain trunk button is pushed or the trunk release lever in the car is engaged. Now i have a trunk that wont close, a trunk indicator light driving me nuts, and an expensive sound system waiting to be jacked... How much do you think this will cost me if possible to go non-Lex dealer route... Or maybe even the price for the new latch at a good place... Looked as is there werre only 4 screws holding the bracket in... Any info would be appreciated.. i cant let this go on for much longer.. thanks

That may be what happened to me once. Does it sound like direct metal-to-metal contact when you try to close it? In my case the latch hook was in the locked position and I just took a screwdriver and pushed it til it clicked to the open position. Then it closed normally.

Try locking the mechanism with ur hand and then pushing the unlocking button to open it back up. if it doesnt open up with the switch, have someone push it and open it up with ur fingers. Sometimes it'll get jammed. Hope that helps

I can open and close it manually w/the screwdriver but it wont lock or latch on at all.. I tried holding down the trunk while pushing the trunk unlock button hoping it would catch..but nothing happens it just will lift right up.. My air shock struts are out on it, so at least it doesn't pop open going over bumps..and it "looks" as if it is closed if you were to just walk by, but if someone were to try to lift it open, it would... what do you think Lexus would charge to even attempt a fix like this?
