Wow talk about a pretty penny, it's hard to pony up cash like that on your first car
I think I'll leave my tails the way they should be.

So am I !!!! I accidentally melted my right side inside tail lite with a heat gun when I was taking off the ls400 logo to install a "celsior' badge..I have been researching also and according to Lexus the 95-97 tail lights are different than the 98-00 models. By visual inspection, it only looks as if the reverse lights have red line across them on the 95-97 models and they "look" very close...(I really don't know about fitment..There is a company on ebay that has been selling them for 120.00 but they say their 95-97 units will NOT fit the 98. I tried to set up a deal with them to buy them and try them but they would not give me a money back return. (only credit towards merchandise) Does any one else have any input?

That company is correct, '95-'97 tails will not fit on a '98-'00. Plus the middle sections are longer on a '98-'00.

The main issue seems to be te trunk lid lenses as the width is different as Brian stated. Whether they bolt up, no one has measured the bolt spacing form the 95-97 and 98-00. The other is the key cylinder...this will have to be relocated.

Given that most us us the key fob or inside release, you could probably do away with it.

If I had to pick between the two, I'll take the tail lights...I wouldn't put Lexanis on my LS even if you paid me $1,400.

IMO the suspension and wheels are key points to a car and I'd save to do that. The rest of the stuff can be added as you go later. If you like Lexani but there are some very nice buys in the wheel classifieds on CL that I'd consider.

Look at the IForged that is being offered in the vendor section, those are some nice wheels.
